These wolf dogs need placement ASAP. The lady was sold a bill of goods and is in way over her head. the dogs will be at risk soon because of their age and their wolfy characters. If you can't help them, please crospost them to someone who may be able to hekp them .. Where Wolves rescue is currently full. Here is the info from the lady that has them:
Availability to transport: If it is close, I should be able to transport them. They do not like car rides.
Animal:
Photos (a good head shot, showing the eyes/a good full body shot from the side): Attached
Vital Statistics (age, weight, sex, etc.):
1. Max, Male born 12/23/2008, guess is about 100 lbs. he is neutered and micro chipped
2. Abbie, Female born 12/23/2008, guess is about 55lbs.
Personality (good with animals/dogs, alpha type, ?): Unknown, they have only been together. My male is in love with my cat, but they have only seen each other thru the glass back door. I don’t know alpha type… I am the mom, and they are the unruly children…
Medical History: Max is neutered and micro chipped. They are late on their shots, but funds are tight right now and I can’t afford it.
Any other information that will help with placement: ? I am told they are timber wolf mixed with red wolf, husky, malamute and golden retriever?. They are good for me on a leash. They know sit & stay. But stay for only a little bit. They are brother and sister from the same litter. They are very wary of strangers. I don’t know how to train them… they are not like regular dogs.
They are almost complete opposites… Abbie is very vocal. Max is more quiet and reserved. Abbie is very loving. Max is more stand offish. Abbie loves attention. Max likes to sit back and watch. Abbie doesn’t like the rain. Max doesn’t seem to mind it. They like to chew.
I love them. But they are more than I expected or know how to handle. I used to have a min pin. She was so easy. I call, she comes running. I say stay and she would stay. I say quiet, and she wouldn’t bark… Max & Abbie are not like regular dogs. I should have been more proactive than I was. I should have done research, I didn’t. I was told by the lady who I got them from that they are good and protective pets. At the time it was just me and my girls. I so badly wanted the protection part… They are not protective. They are wary of new people. They have not been aggressive, just scared of everything new.
They are kept outside. Howling at night is bad, I live in a subdivision and the neighbors hate it.
I would love to keep them. And putting them down is not an option for me. I also don't want them separated, they love eachother. However, I am at wits end... They eat everything, I have to keep them locked up when no one is home. They don't like that, it's not fair to them. They need more attention than I am able to give. If there was someone who could help with training that would be awesome. The hard part is I can't pay much for training. I am a single parent living in Arizona. I have a child in college and one in highschool. I have been trying to save up to get Abbie spayed, but funds are tight. I was told they are good dogs to have, protective, easy to train... no, they are very stubbon and like to always test how much they can get away with. And they don't like people...
How or what can be done to accomodate them? What practices are best? What are the big do's and dont's? How do you get them to listen? Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated. I would like to get on a list, but would be willing to keep them until my number's up... UNLESS, by some miracle the advice you can provide changes everything... I'm afraid I really bit off more than I know how to chew...
