I read a thread that talked about some bad guys that came across from Mexico and held up (at gun point) some people camping at Buttercup. I think it was awhile ago but I am wondering if anyone has a comment about camping at Buttercup during the week when there are not that many people around?
Thanks

Never had an issue there. Just keep stuff locked up when you go to bed, don't leave keys in the bikes, etc. Jerry Vine the camp host keeps a pretty close eye on it nowadays.

i like to go in the middle of the week when no one is around. Always see way more border patrol than campers, they are all over that place. Wouldn't it be alot easier for an illegal to go around rather than thru the dunes?

A lot of border patrol in that area. You should be plenty safe. Just lock up.

Or across the Freeway to Gordons.

The bandits are nothing, it's that dang black sandtruck you gotta look out for.
