My bro had his trailer out first time last week....
Kept popping the 20amp fuse for his fuel station......puts a new fuse in, uses the pump, turns off the timer switch, and the fuse blows...
I'm sure there's a common fix for this as I have heard of this problem for a while.....any help????
Thanks,
Frank

Take the gear cover off of the fuel pump and sand down the gears alittle bit. Thay have been known to swell. I also put a 25 amp fuse and havent popped one since.

That's the answer, except I wouldn't put in a 25 amp fuse, I'd stay with a 20 amp fuse.

Question: the pump comes on and works just fine...doesn't hesitate to come one....how would loosening the gear tolerances affect the fuse? Just education for me...
Thanks,
Frank

If the rigs a WW I believe there is a fix (new pump) it will haunt him until he replaces it

The tolerance is too small or the gears swell, either way they bind in the housing. Then when the motor runs it gets hot and poof. First time out mine (great plains ind.) crapped out and wouldnt run without the cover being loose, after siphoning for a week they covered it though.

The gears swell and the tolerance between the cover and gears disappears making the motor work harder (pulling amps) until the motor pulls that amps that fuse is rated and causing the motor to "amp out" and blows the fuse.
