I saw the Bobardier 50 and 90 at Malcoms the other day and thought thaey would be cool for the kids. I liked how they were a bit bigger than most of the 50 or 80 quads that I have seen. With the two being the same size except for the motor, what would be the best way to go? Daughter is 3 will be 4 by mid next season. Thanks, as I know very little about quads... Especially the little ones

if you wanna go the cheap way you can do what I did. My son is 5 and his 50 is still plenty for him. I paid $1500 out the door brand new. It's a Dinli mini-rex. 2 stroke oil injected. Electric start with a kick start backup. Throttle limiter and the best thing of all... remote kill switch! He can be up to 70ft away and I can kill the bike. He can't start it back up until I hit the other button.
I know size might be an issue but he hasn't outgrown his and it's been 1 1/2 years.

How does the overall size compare. I figured the bigger bike with bigger tires would do better in the sand. Plus, I could ride it for a camp bike. I weigh in at 210lb and feel like I might kill anything smaller.

anythingatv.com has a buch of minis that are well priced. The Eton 70cc seems to be a good bike, in between a 50 and the 90 (obviously). You can actually get paddles for them as well. I have the Kasea Skyhawk 50 for my guy and have been real happy. The thing I like about his is that it has a foot brake. They are real fun as well, you can mod the heck out of them. I put a pipe, clutch kit, bars, rims and tires on his and it is a blast! If you need more info, let me know, I have done a ton of research and work on these.

Doesn't do so good in the small dunes but it's great around camp. A buddy of mine 300+lbs rode it all around.

The tires are a little smaller than a suzuki lt50 but it's a faster bike and it's alot cheaper. Another guy in my camp bought a lt50 that was 2 years old and he paid a few hundred more for that. We had grown up races around camp and it was almost 1/4 lap ahead after the first lap.

Downside is no suspension. I mainly got it for the price.

For sand a 50 is not going to do well stock. We piped a 90, and it flies all over the place!

Paddles help on the 70 - 90 cc range, but tend to bog the 50's.

Lt80s are great, so are the predator 90's

Yes, but a little overpriced IMO. Give me the money that a Pred goes for, and I can have a bike that will run circles around it. You are correct, they are the best out of the box.

My daughter has a scrambler 90 pre predator and it goes everywhere in the dunes we want to go Stock except for paddles and now I found a company in Pheonix that makes all kinds of parts for them. I paid like 2100 out the door and like I said it dunes nice. Just my .02

Have you had your daughter sit on any of them? Is this for the daughter you mentioned in the 1st post? When I bought my sons he was 4 and couldn't even touch the foot pegs. You don't want anything too big. The kid will just bounce right off. Gotta remember, if you buy a small bike and the kids use it for a season or 2 you will still get your moneys worth when you sell it. I was finding 86 lt50's for 600 less than I paid for a 03. Just something to think about..

how about the yamaha raptor 80, it has electric start, 3 speed transmission, and shaft drive. the only problem i think is the lights are fake. it went for about $3100, with a $500 warranty.

Bob, I like those, but it is for a three year old girl. I think they are a bit too big.

The Raptor 80 is just a badger with little Raptor plastics, there are much better kids quads out there for that price.

Hey Kipper someone is selling a 2001 Suzuki 50 in the buy/sell forum for $1200. that would be a great quad for a 3 yr old. My twin 5 yr old girls ride Suzuki 50's

I am a Yahama fan but I would not recomend the Litte Raptor. If you buy an 80cc bike the Suzuki LT80 is a great bike.

Suspension should be everything and price secondary,Its our little ones we're talking about. My little one almost bit his tounge in half because of the crappy suspension the raptor 80 has,all because he wanted a bike like dad and I was poorly informed when I bought his first quad.

Isn't power the real issue? Engine size should be looked at first and foremost. To buy a kid a quad with less than 250cc is just ridiculous!

This all falls into the age category!! If they're 3-6 years of age I completely agree with you.

This is sarcasm for you moofs that don't see it.

Might as well just get your 5 yr old a Z400, I am sure he could handle that!

(more sarcasm)
80's and 90's have plenty of power for the little guys (maybe too much for some) but they can be restricted to not go as fast with throttle and clutch tweaking.

My sons has a remote kill switch but no suspension. It's a 50cc so he doesn't need suspension. Kill switch works wonders. It's also electric start with a kick start backup.

I think the lt50 has a tiny bit of suspension but it doesn't make much of a difference. At least from what I've seen. I paid $1500 out the door for it. I would've bought a bike with suspension but they were alot more money and the remote kill switch/electric start really made my decision.

http://www.anythingatv.com/Kids_ATVs/Motor...1T_Kids_ATV.htmIf you are looking for a good 50 at a good price, this is the one. It is the same as the Kasea SkyHawk 50 my son has, and is a great 50! Good suspension, foot brake, tons of aftermarket parts, etc. There is a tether on the rear, you can attach a cord and pull to stop the motor as well. Larger that the LT50, so it may last longer as well. When they get used to riding a bit, the suspension is real nice to have, my son (5) looks for every jump he can find! We put a racing pipe, clutch kit, and new rims and tires on ours, and it is a ton of fun.

What about the eaton viper mini 50 or 70? They have a lot of other features for the same price almost. 1599 or 1799 respectively. DIsc brakes, remote start/ kill switch, headlight option etc.

Definitely good as well! Plenty of aftermarket stuff available as well. The 70 is the way to go. Only minus is no foot brake. Have heard many good things about these quads!
