Ok so I did my reading this weekend..
so I’m 22 years old, and have always wondered why things get closed and how govt/ politicians work, but this year more then ever I am I interested in it. With the heath care deal, desert act, govt taking over everything, I ask my self why… I would like to know how I can do my part because I don’t want to lose my home away from home. GLAMIS.
Its always been there for me, a place to relax, unwind and shoot the I eat poo with family, but over the past 10 years nothing has changed, we give money to people and groups to fight for us but I feel like nothing is getting done (correct me if im wrong) and it is just a big scam. I know that’s just how the world works, but I feel that with Obama being president people are starting to stand up and not let politicians decide things for them (the people) it seems that these politicians have been living the life on our expense and I think people are starting to wake up.
So I ask are we making progress in GLAMIS, are we at a point where people care about the desert and Glamis closers before rather then later. It seems people don’t care till its to late.
I read most of this RAMP draft and there is a ton of info, most of witch is filled with crazy talk. But I did learn a lot about the bees,? Bees are there for the farms duh.
So looking at the maps, maps that are ok are on page 15 17 18 19 20 23 are ok and 26
I think we should shoot for 20 am I right?
I mean we can throw out all the maps that deal with solar and wind and geothermal right? What they will close the dunes flatting them out and put solar panels everywhere?
What are the chances this ramp thing goes our way for once.
Thanks

but then again i think this whole thing is pointless, we already have a wildlife in the north dunes.. 50,000 arcers.. if it lives in the north then why close the south dunes..

How can they turn around and build on the place for solar and wind?
Seems a little hypocritical, as we could NEVER do the kinda damage they would..

The best way to get your opinion known and communicated is to make time to go to the public hearings that the BLM is conducting this month. Map 8 is the option the ASA is endorsing and pursuing thru Ecologics (the asa's legal team). But we need numbers to voice your opinion about Map 8 and to let BLM recommend to the court the best option. This new RAMP was ordered by the court that ordered the closures to begin with. I guarantee you the enviro nazis will be there and so do we. Letting other people go to the hearings will by itself willl not open things up. We all need to participate. I am planning on going to the San Diego hearings. Hope to see all of you there.

The ASA has not endorsed any of the alternatives yet. The ASA has contracted for professionals in various disciplines to review the alternatives and generate comments. These will take a few weeks at which time the comments will be made available.
In all reality the final decision will be a combination of these alternatives. The key here is to make sure that the BLM gets your personal comments on what you like and how they can change the alternatives to address the things you don't like.
Your comments can make a differance.

I went to the BLM meeting in SD and here is my take on it
1 The meeting was a standing room only, what I would guess 150+ people all representing individual users and some org.
2 the presentation was brief, and opened quickly to the open comment period, where many folks taking the microphone to express their point of view
3 Some we’re well thought and intelligent comments, some we’re let’s say less than stellar
4 Overall the BLM staff worked through the meetings, refining and expanding the comments and doing a pretty good job of trying to answer all the questions even the silly ones.
5 At present there is 49,000 acres closed under the “temporary closer order”
6 It was clear that the BLM are perusing Alt #8 as the only viable alternative, and if you we’re able to read between the lines is was also clear that alt 8 is the only one that Fish & wildlife would write a favorable “Biological Opinion” that would be required in order to satisfy Judge Allison court order.
7 We as dunners have given up land over and over, and everyone feels that the only acceptable Alternative would be to completely open up the full 49K acres, but in my opinion the chance of that is --- let’s say I have more hopes in winning the lottery. Alt 8 does provide for permanent closer of a substantial part of the critical habitat as defined by the F&W PMV Critical Habitat that was issued last year, totaling approximately 13,000 acres, this would release 36,000 acres back as un-restricted riding, including Patton Valley and hill 6 & 7 (the “Wall” and “Banshees Revenge”)
8 There was slight conversation about Boardmanvill, but it seem to me that was a subject the BLM was not ready to engage in
9 The new Wash road will at this point stop at was 25 with no further extension envisioned, however there was some signs that gecko pads may be improved and possibly extended past Road Runner.
I'm attaching a BLM comment form, for those who get involved

I was there as well, it seems we have Alt 8 as the preferred. As Sandwizard said, getting thing else approved thru fish and game is going to be tough. What they are looking for are facts not emotion. By being there and contributing even with sensible questions are the key. If you feel they have neglected some facts that is what they are looking for. But you can send in a letter stating you like alt 8 with a picture of what you think things should be, doesnt mean they will but be part of the process and be heard.
