The new bike I'm not sure of, but the older ones after last year I think have been grand fathered and should be no problem...

A brand new blaster will get a red sticker, a 2002 or older will get a green.

24v is right. My 02 Banshee started out as a red sticker. Then the law changed. Now I am green. Ride all summer!

So red stickers are only for 2 strokes, right? Let's say I bought a 2004 YFZ450. Would I have a green sticker since it's a 4 stroke. 4 strokes have exceptable emission levels for a green I would think. Does anyone know for sure?
Thanks,
Keith

Nope, four stroke doesn't guarantee a green sticker..... There was an extensive post not too long ago about the same topic.

Interesting. I'll have to do a search thanks. I hope it does get a green because I would like to do some summer full moon night rides.

keithski, read that dmv link above. i beleive the 450's are green as long as they are meant for calif. some dealers get stock from out of state dealers and those bikes will end up with a red since they are 49 state certified. the dmv link tells you which vins get which so you can make sure when you buy
