Full Version: This Is A Real Quad
Jeff's Banshee with a turboed 900cc Honda road bike motor. It is bad to the bone. 168hp to the wheels on the dyno at 7# boost, and it will take a lot more.

How in the hell does he keep the front wheels on the ground? A few years back I saw a banshee with a ZX11 motor in it. It was alot longer than this one and he still couldn't keep the front end down.

He has a long wheelie bar on the back, at first he was duning with it on and I
didn't think it would work but I followed him in the dunes and it never hit real hard,
now he has learned how to ride it he doesn't have a problem. OH I forgot to tell you he won the world championship twice in BMX so he can ride. He was blowing away those bad alky. Banshee's at Olds. He was waiting till they left then blowing by them before the top. Good old horsepower verses high winding two strokes. He loves it. It took a while to get the pegs and shifter just right so he could really ride it, also what rpm the motor likes, and when to shift. Now he has the bugs out of it
he is going to sell his 1990 LT500 with all the goodies. It flat hauls if you know any interested. He just freshened up the top end, took it to the dunes for backup but
haven't riden since the new top end.

I was toying with the idea of putting an R6 motor in my raptor, the R6 dry weighs about 360lbs, and raptor dry weighs 397lbs. the R6 in stock form puts out around 100hp. dont know why it wouldnt work, the R6 is 600cc's and the raptor is 660cc's, wonder why it hasnt been done before, or ??? how hard do you think it would be? I think the motor is basically the same size just the R6 is wider, but not by much, other than motor mounts being in different places, should go together pretty easy, what do you think? just a thought.
You will have to gusset and strengthen the frame

NO just cut up Banshee rear plastic. Yes on the pictures, I will post some more.

Check out the thread on Crashes GSXR100 powered raptor. It is way more involved than just motormounts. It takes a lot of time, effort, money, and skill to shoehorn an inline four into a quad. That is a very nice quad above, definite grin inducer for sure.

You are right. I told Crash I think he would be better off to go with a turbo
like we did because w/4 carbs and 4-pipes, it takes up too much room and the 4-banger motor is taller and you don't have the room for the carbs and pipes, we are going to change this one to elect. injection as Haltech has a unit for 4-cyl for about $800. including the injectors. It also controles the ignition. Jeff wired the Haltech on my car so now he knows how the whole thing works.

I guess it is a bit harder than I thought it would be, but it does sound simple enough, just replacing one 600cc motor with another, almost easier to take a streetbike frame and add 2 more wheels. custom swingarm , think a 3 wheeler would be easy enough to make.

Holy crap!! Thanks for putting up the other pics. That thing is badass!! Can't imagine the looks on peoples faces after they see this thing flying up olds. One of the best looking banshees I've seen. I'm sure it performs even better!

DUDE.. BAD BAD BAD.. bike like that tear up the DUNES and make it rough for other riders.. Its to dangerous to others to be around.. I hope he never comes by me and my family..

I am going to make you ride it. Handcuff you to the bars and go. It is cool to
just sit on it and rap up the motor. It actualy dunes like a champ. Doesn't run out of power.

For Crash - we are going to duct tape him to the bike, start it, put it in 3rd or 4th gear - Gun it and dump the clutch.. then video tape it and see what happens..

Were you at Dumont last weekend? Looks familiar... My bro has a shee he has has over 12k in minus the cost of the bike and he never loses.... until a guy with a black shee took him last week on comp hill in Dumont. He suckered my bro up 4 times just playin' with him until my bro noticed it was def not stock. I don't remember what he had in this bike regarding motor but it was the same color. Just thought it might have been you....

NO, never been to Dumont to dune, stopped one time traveling from L.A. to Vegas to check it out but it is too long a drive from where I live in Tucson.
