i have a onan marquise gold 5500 that dies after running for a while like hour or so I can start it right up and runs fine. Any ideas

try cleaning out the carb. Had a similar problem with my 5500. Apparently sand penetrates the air filters easily on this particular model. When varnish forms or sand gets in the carb the butterfly gets stuck temporarily and it gets an overfrequency which in turn shuts it down. you might try to get the service code to flash and look it up as well.

good luck, I replaced my carb and still occassionaly shuts off.

Thanks for the help I will try and see if it flashes a code so far i have not seen any codes. I guess i will be serviceing this thing when we get off the beach.. prob get more sand if i try it here.

I've got the same problem. The gen will start , run than shut down on phase imbalance. But you still get the code after changing the carb ?

have you bothered to get the error code off of it? read the manual and it will tell you how. it even has some of the error codes in the manual.

New fuel filter?

Check the oil lately?
