It happened today but has been clicking/popping ever since I got the trailer last April. Tried to hook it up to the truck today and it just pops while trying to raise the trailer. What do I need to get this fixed? A motor? Landing gear? How much is this fix?

Sounds like the gears are done.

don't know if this wiil help, but I know on my electric tongue jack they offer replacement gears and parts, you might see if the manufacturer name is on them some where, you might be able to disassemble them and figure out what went wrong. Surely they are rebuildable. If they aren't might try a rv salvage, cause I bet those are way expensive.

when mine broke it was a Sehear Pin in the Motor Head that connects to the gear anyway it was still $800 for a shop to repair. As for getting the Trailer off your Truck I had that problem too GET a GOOD 10 TON Bottle Jack and a Piece of 1/4 " 2x2 x 8-12 " long Angle so that the bottle jack doesn't damage the trailer frame and jack the side thats not working to remove the trailer off the truck

You can hand crank it up. Then remove the motor and take it to Walt's RV and match it up to a new one. They have huge boxes of them for pretty cheap.

Is it only one side? I had the side opposite the gear motor go out last year and discovered the pin that holds the cross shaft to the motor fell out causng only the one side to operate. It made a lot of noise too from the shaft banging around. Might be an easy fix. Good Luck.

Don't even bother trying to fix it. Those cheap a@@ single motor units are junk for the big fifthwheels. I had the same problem with my Atwood landing gear jacks. I replaced the gears twice.
Ultrafab makes the best set up for our big trailers. They are dual motor and will not break and leave you stranded. Here's the link.

Thanks guys! I took it apart and found nothing wrong with it. The gal at Venture Manufacturing says it the clutch making the noise. Said the coach is too heavy for the single motor app. Told me I could buy another motor/lead leg for the other side for about $300. I've learned to crank it up until the clutch starts popping repeatedly, then take a break for about 10 seconds and then crank it up some more. Kind of a long process, but it's saving me 300 bones.

PM Jalper here on the board. He can set you up with an entire dual motor system for less than the guys are selling the one motor for. He modified his WW 39' to a dual system.

If you need a pin to do a dual motor PM me, I have them in stock, I can send you the link for the extra motor and transmission or put a kit to together for you, It work's very well, faster up and down and you can hook up a switch to both grounds for individual leg use.
