She tells me there is/was a pair of pit bulls in her neighborhood. She knew the dogs other neighbors knew the dogs, all say they were friendly. Even had a pair of yorkies that they would play with. Well another neighbors Schnauzer gets loose and into the pit's yard. The pits didn't take it kindly and tore the dog up badly. The owner of the schnauzer called the Humane Society which promptly came to collect the dogs and have since put them down.
WTF? Regardless of your feelings of Pits I don't understand this. This occured in the Pits yard. Yes I would be heart broken if one of my dogs finnagled their way into someone else's yard but it's not the other dogs fault. BESIDES that if I ever had to live on alone my first investment would be a larger dog. And you better believe I'd want it to alert me and possibly protect me from any intruders. My pomeranian does her best but 7 pounds of fluff doesn't go far
If your dog gets out and attacks someone or another animal that is one thing. I feel this is a whole nother thing since the dogs were always well behaved outside of their yard and the attack occurred in their yard. The schnauzer had no business being there.
What are the laws on this? Is it unlawful to have a guard dog that does his job?
