So I'm getting my hair did yesterday catching up on all the gossip at the hair salon and stylist tells me a story that really disturbed me.

She tells me there is/was a pair of pit bulls in her neighborhood. She knew the dogs other neighbors knew the dogs, all say they were friendly. Even had a pair of yorkies that they would play with. Well another neighbors Schnauzer gets loose and into the pit's yard. The pits didn't take it kindly and tore the dog up badly. The owner of the schnauzer called the Humane Society which promptly came to collect the dogs and have since put them down.

WTF? Regardless of your feelings of Pits I don't understand this. This occured in the Pits yard. Yes I would be heart broken if one of my dogs finnagled their way into someone else's yard but it's not the other dogs fault. BESIDES that if I ever had to live on alone my first investment would be a larger dog. And you better believe I'd want it to alert me and possibly protect me from any intruders. My pomeranian does her best but 7 pounds of fluff doesn't go far laughing.gif So now you are liable if your gaurd dog attacks when another pet, possibly person, enters your yard without your permission???

If your dog gets out and attacks someone or another animal that is one thing. I feel this is a whole nother thing since the dogs were always well behaved outside of their yard and the attack occurred in their yard. The schnauzer had no business being there.

What are the laws on this? Is it unlawful to have a guard dog that does his job?

I know from experience on this subject. We had a wrecking yard in orange county. It had a 12 ft solid fence with beware of guard dogs every few feet on the fence. A thief broke into our yard in the wee hours of the morning by climbing over this 12ft fence. He was stealing parts by throwing them over the fence to his buddies. The dog watched him a few minutes then launched attack. Oh the dog was a large german shepard & tore the guy up pretty bad, lots of stiches. The thief came to us after he got out of the emergency room & demanded money from us for the dog attacking him. I said you were committing a crime so go screw yourself. Lo & behold he took us to court. The judge ordered us to pay his medical bills in full. He did not award him any pain & suffering though. The guy wanted 10,000.00 for pain & suffering. Go figure......

Its fcuking bullsh!t is what it is....Sad that the little dog got hurt but the little dog may have provoked them...it was their territory. On the other hand was the fence weak somewhere? How did the little dog even get in?? Thats weird...?? I reinforced my fence b4 getting my dog. But I worry....Pits are targets..I rarely leave mine outside, more for HIS protection then anything. If the dog is still alive why the hell were the pits euthanized?

I am surrounded by yapping little dogs that antagonize my dogs through the fence. My dog Trejo doesn't bother with them and snuffs them. Thank God the 7 month old puppy (Ruby) I have been fostering is leaving to her forever home monday...she's not so calm about it. She gets very upset at this one dog for coming at her through the fence. Ruby never has issues with other dogs when I take her out. But this little dog grates her nerves..it will bark and bark and bark....They just moved in.

Anyways DONE I don't know the law about it and I'm not sure it matters anyways..

Phyllis, THAT IS BS!!! Its a sad sign of the times when someone can rob you then get paid for it.....I'm so over relying on the justice system. There is none.

I believe if the put them down it wasnt the first time they had a report like this.

Possibly..maybe thier fence was not up to par...who knows...Owners need to be responsible.

What? Are you calling this pasty white gun totin, backpackin, fishin, dirt-bike ridin female a redneck?! lmao.gif

Well golly you do realize the Redneck games are walking distance from my house! http://www.glamisdunes.com/invision/index....=205246&hl=

And I know this because after one very long night of mayhem with the likes of Danno and MadWeazl I actually did walk home from Crazy Earls. Dang just a visit to Crazy Earl qualifies one for Redneck status laughing.gif
