I've never used the collar. I do know the things to be cautious about are
Dosing. I don't know if there's different weight restrictions with the collars like the drops but keep it in mind.
Cats - Don't know if you have any but the stuff they use for dogs can make a cat VERY sick and I believe even die.
Ticks are evil bastards that I would love to eradicate entirely. They got at my dog this last summer. I'd have to give her a rub down whenever she came back inside. I've since put cedar flower pots around my yard, keep bathing her once a month with the flea & tick shampoo and I'll start her back up again on the drops from the vet. I had her on the stuff you can buy at the store but unfortunately they weren't keeping the effers away.
My boyfriend made the flower pots so I had him sweep up all the saw dust and have spread that around too.
Fleas are infinitely evil too

Ticks are a pain in the A$$ and the wallet. We have a company who sprays our yard/house every 2 months and they tell us to have them come back out if we see any signs of ticks even if it is only a week later and the come back out and spray for free as offten as required. Man if you get these in your house you are in for a real treat. Once they start laying eggs It is almost impossible to get rid of them unless you rip the house apart from one end to the other and
find and destroy any eggs. The eggs are very visible and you will know when you find them, ussually on the floor under a piece of furniture. Im sure by now you have figured out that we have been down this road. Now If we even find a single tick we go nuts. By the way the bug bombs for ticks are a mess and a waste of time.
Does the Cedar have sometype of repellant effect on tics?
Just googled tick eggs! WTF! Thankfully we have not seen those yet.
Everyone insect is supposed to serve a purpose, what the hell do these bastages do?
Eradication!
We can't spray, the area is too large.

not sure if this is available over the counter but we have used Tempo in the past, as a spray in the yard, and never saw another tick for years, literally. They covered the screen door one time so bad you couldn't see out it, and they ended up killing the roosterer spaniel they were so bad, even after blood tranfusions.
We found one last nite on our begal, so they are going to be bad this year, but with as much ice as we got this winter I wouldn't have thought anything would have lived, it was bitter cold this year!!
One dog had a tick in the middle of feb. Some of these bastages don't die or go dormant. It must have come right off a deer or something. Even the vet was freaked out.
