Staying in the toy hauler down here in cal. for work ( I live in Oregon ), hooked up the dish with the extra box. For the local ( Oregon ) channels 2, 6, 8, and 11 I'm getting a error " You cannot receive this channel outside the designated viewing area." Is thier a way around this? We are paying for the service, would like to recive all the channels.. But not sure if you are aloud to take the extra box and dish when you travel?

You are probably too far from home to receive your local channels. You can call and change your address but this messes things up at home and when you get back you have to go through the process of changing your address again. Other than that you should receive the rest of your channels

Im runnin Direct TV sat, in the menu section there is a zip code entry I have messed with this and was able to recieve local cali stations in Michigan worth a try

When dialing in the dish I entered the zip where I'm staying, couldn't get the channels. Then I went back to the pointer guide and changed the zip to the house add. Still not getting the Portland channels? I'm getting all the other channels so its not to bad..

you need to call directv and tell them you are traveling, they can make the local channels work wherever you are, not your home channels though as most are spot beamed, some will work like network stuff in Lrager cities.
