So after several unfortunate incidents and having to sell my Black Widow a few years back, I'm finally in a position where I can get back in the drivers seat. Thank goodness too cause I was killing myself on quads.

Car should be home in a couple months as a roller, then I'll have the summer to finish it up. Car will be a 2010 Tatum Black Widow, LS3, S4D. This car isn't going to look like every other Black Widow in the sand, got a few customs features coming with this bad boy. I'll post pics as soon as I have something to post. Car should hit the jig any day now.

Too long is an under statement for sure. It's not Rich holding it up, it could be done sooner but I'm stilling rolling my pennies to pay for it.

Saw your car there yesterday, heard it put down some sick #'s on the dyno.
Hero
Way to go, can't wait to see it!!! Your build was awesome, I'm sure this one will be top notch as well...
People give Tatum Crap, but their frame and roller packages are more reasonable then 90 percent of the other builders when you compare apples to apples.....

Wow, congrats! Things sure have changed though. The last time I ordered a Tatum it took almost a year to get it. It's nice to see that you can order it now and have it shortly instead of having to wait sooooo long. That was the worst part of my Tatum!!!
KMDuner
Thanks for all the good words guys. I am super excited, a kid on Christmas about sums it up. Trust me I'll post tons of pics daily when I have some. I learned a lot from my last build so this one will be even better. Last build was fully logged on this site as well.
Dirtywhiteboy
Tatum is really standing behind their product, I am super happy with everything
KMDuner
So I've had some delays but things are back on track, car isn't done yet but I'm starting to order parts. Spoke to Ian from Mendeola today and purchased my S4D. I can't wait to get this thing in the sand.

Nice! What do you do for a living.... better yet, are they hiring? LOL!!!

Nice choice on drivetrain, I'm going with the same. What is the LS going to put out?
Doc Savage
Congratulations on the new build, look forward to the pics as they come in. moof.gif

He's telling me around 600. Gonna tune it to 6500+ rpm with the billet internals. Should be a screamer.

Ordered my seats today. Jet Trims, black ostrich down the middle, black suede on the sides with silver inserts. Gonna look sweet.

Yeah, they are nice but I don't have suede. Yours probably wont get as hot.

What stage is your car at? I'm by there every now and then. Probably the only BW being built.
KMDuner
Had a few set backs so we haven't started the car yet. I'm next in line, there is one chassis in front of me. I guess Tatum lost a fabricator/welder to some health issues, and the other had a death in the family, needless to say it's a tough time at Tatum for fabricating frames. In the mean time I'm getting everything else ordered up and ready to go.

I'm guessing it hits the jig either next week or week after, it will be the first BW of its kind. Plated shock mounts, v bar support in windshield, moving the radiator to make room for a wing trunk that sits on top of the cage. No upper cage support bars, the rear cage will be rounded and supported from underneath. Exhaust coming out the top, sway bar, black kings, champion wheels, 12.50's up front, 36 stu's in the rear, intake will be flipped, not sure what we're doing with the intake tube yet. Since the car is somewhat of a one off we need to wait and see how much room we have. It'll look a lot like an SCU in the rear, Tatum everywhere else. Hubs and brakes are all anodized black, wheels powdered black, frame black, body black with silver racing stripe. Molded roof with lights built in, I have a huge stereo system sitting in my garage, all brand new equipment, still deciding whether or not to put it in. Might just go headsets.

Kevin my .02. Just put xm radio in. The head units always get screwed up in buggies and the suspension and bypass noise without headsets in unbearable trust me. I also wired in iPod but don't even use it now with xm. Aaron and I put in a trick inline eq, u should copy us it's bad azz for sound shaping in ur ear.
N2SAND
DWB, what king of problems have you had with the head units?

Nice Keith, way to come out swinging!!

Thank you sir, hopefully I'll have some pictures to post pretty quick.

This is the first I've read this thread. All I can say is your car is going to look insane with everything you posted you plan to do.

Can't wait for pics.

X2...where are pics!
KMDuner
Sorry guys, been busy, nothing to report just yet. Got a lot of $$$$ out there, just nothing to show for it but reciepts. I'll call down to Tatum tomorrow and see if they have anything pic worthy.
KMDuner
Talked to Rich last week, should be some progress here pretty quick, should have something to look at by next week, if not the whole car. Trans should be shipped in the next couple weeks as well.

In the mean time, I picked up a sweet Rhino, been looking for a while and finally decided to pull the trigger. Left PHX last night for Beaumont, Ca. Plan was 4 hours there, 4 hours home. Goal, in bed at 1 am. Left here at 430, got to Beaumont at 830, bs'd a little, made the transaction, and as I'm leaving the seller Scott pointed out that I had a blow out on my trailer. Do you think I had a spare with me? Nope!!! Very long story short, after looking around Beaumont for 2 hours around 10 pm I decided to put my best tire on the blow out side, rachet strap the axle, and limp home to phx. A protein bar and 2 monsters in Blythe and I was good to go. Crawled into bed at 415 am, at work for a big meeting 8 am sharp.
KMDuner
I'm gonna need a bigger garage once this car comes home.
KMDuner
Oh yeah, and will have pics on tuesday.
KMDuner
Here are some pics.

Those first pics...it looked really short.
Looks like a 4 seater in these last few you took though.

Nice. What's it gonna have in it?
KMDuner
Its a 4 seater. Jet Trims, LS3, S4D, big wheels, big tires, sway bar, etc.
MAC FAB
Looking good. Rant time. The pic with the guy grinding would have me going ballistic if I owned the place because of no eye protection of any sort. I've seen too many safety videos lately involving eye injuries. You only get one set, jack them up and your done. Off rant. Nice to see some cars being built in today's economy. Keep the pics rolling.
KMDuner
Got a delivery from Mendeola today.
50GRIT
Nice, I got the same package..
Tatum&Honda4thewin
looks great! when is she supposed to be ready?? igor.gif
KMDuner
Chassis should be finished this week, but Little Rich will need a few days to do the custom exhaust, then off to powder. Then to my garage to complete. Shooting for haloween.
tomfish1
most excellent.
Sanddoc
Congrats on the build!
stevegoby
dude this car is gonna smash, take me for a run lol
yoshi
I think I spend more time looking at the jigs during these builds than what''s in them, lol.

Gotta appreciate the time and effort that goes into building something to reproduce products of this size.......
