If I had a clutch the motor wouldve fired last night. Not having parts is killing me right now. Car came together very easy. Rodsmith was gonna come over and help but I didn't really have anything for him to do.
I was not planning on working, I was going to drink your beer

I'll help too!

If I wasn't relying on so many different vendors for parts I'd feel pretty good about my chances, but its not looking good. I'm gonna try my hardest. If not, I'll be out next weekend with the car and will have to settle for the Rhino this weekend.
Yes, we'll be camped with the Baileys. See you either Thurs night or Friday morning.

Okay, here's the deal. Car is NOT gonna make T-Day. No front bypass and no shifter. I've got a few things to finish up as well. finish fuel lines, wire tail lights, fill fluids, etc. I'll turn the motor over for the first time tomorrow.
I'm not happy about the paint, its just way TOO much black, and in order for the painter to match the frame he had to go with a flat black. Decided I need to break it up with some graffics. So that'll happen in the next month or so.
Took the car to MVD today, it's all legal.....

Front bypass just arrived yesterday, shifter is supposed to be here tomorrow. All thats left is to wire the taillights.
Motor needs to come back out. I went to turn it over and nothing. The starter wont turn the flywheel. Consensus is the clutch and or flywheel is binding on the inside of the bellhousing. I'll pull the motor, find out where its binding, grind it down a little and go from there. We had a hell of a time getting the motor tranny mated, so touching the bell housing makes sense.
Car will be done by Friday for a day trip on Saturday to shake it down.

Is there some way to see if you can turn the motor over by hand, just to make sure it's not something else? I know you said it hard to go together, I'm just sayin....

turned the motor over by hand as it was going in (as we were having a hard time. went in like butter then stopped with about 1/4 inch to go. ) finally got it to go. I tried again to turn it over by hand after it wouldn't start and couldn't. I didn't try really hard, but could tell it didn't want to turn. almost positive the flywheel is rubbing somewhere. Little rich said he's seen it before, was common on the 2d's with a big clutch.

I have to give a HUGE thanks to Rodsmith32 for helping me out. Twice in the last week he has driven across town and stayed till the wee hours of the morning to help me out with this thing. It was after 3 am last night. Yesterday he went on his lunch hour to a salvage yard to pull some skinnies off an old bug. I can't thank you enough. You the man, I owe you big time.
Now, here's an update. Had to pull the motor completely out of the car. The clutch, 9 inch triple, was hitting the bell housing just below the starter. I figured no prob, grind the bell housing a little and we're good to go. Long story short after installing the motor 3 times, and pulling it out 3 times to grind some more, we had to grind over a half inch of the bell housing to keep the clutch from binding. There is about an inch and a quarter to an inch and a half of material there so I'm not worried about weakening the bell housing. Like I said its was just below where the starter engages the flywheel.
What a total pain in the a$$, I was about ready to give up last night. Either way, its good to go, even bumped the motor to make sure we had clearance.
Will be out Saturday to shake it down.
Again huge thanks to Rodney for all the help.

I have to give an enormous thanks to TWVette and Rodsmith32. These guys are TRUE friends and duners. The car was NOT ready to dune and we left anyway. What I thought would take an hour or so took 4 hours. (in the dunes after 3 hours of driving) Never did either one of them complain, and kept at it until the car was ready to leave camp.
I can't thank them enough.
Car is super sick and super fast. I'll have videos up soon.
On a side note, we were craving pizza last night, pizza hut in Blythe was crazy packed so we went to a mom and pop shop called Rebelz BBQ off Lovekin bvld. It is the SHIZZZZZZZ, a must have if you are hungry in Blythe. Check it out.... YUM

So after several unfortunate incidents and having to sell my Black Widow a few years back, I'm finally in a position where I can get back in the drivers seat. Thank goodness too cause I was killing myself on quads.
Car should be home in a couple months as a roller, then I'll have the summer to finish it up. Car will be a 2010 Tatum Black Widow, LS3, S4D. This car isn't going to look like every other Black Widow in the sand, got a few customs features coming with this bad boy. I'll post pics as soon as I have something to post. Car should hit the jig any day now.
Not being a smart ass or anything, but what makes this car a custom one off? What did they do different? Very nice car!

^^^^what he said^^^^
the entire rear end of the car is different. Radiator and power steering bottle is in the wing, rear cage is different, cage support bars have been redesigned and moved, v bar windshield, one off wing, etc. First and only one of its kind.
