I think I spend more time looking at the jigs during these builds than what''s in them, lol.
Gotta appreciate the time and effort that goes into building something to reproduce products of this size.......
haha same here. its cool to see the neat ways to make a jig.

WOW...RHS, glad to see they are still around! I bought a motor from them for my 67 Fastback in 1990.
That thing was great. Did not have one problem with it at all.

Most of the stereo equipment went into the Rhino, and i decided to go headset to keep the weight of the car down.
It gonna start coming together real quick, they started on the backend on Friday, he's doing the shock mounts today. I'll head there Wednesday morning for new pics. Now is when this car starts to get one-off. I can't wait.

I am FAR from a baller. I'm still rocking the 2005 aluminum sided toy hauler. I've been building this car in my head for 4 or 5 years now and just knew I wouldn't be happy with anything else.
Car is nowhere near that of DWB and Supreme's Pre-Runner. It should rank up there in the Black Widows running around the dunes though.

Sep 16 2010, 09:13 AM
Pretty sure that is the "correct" way to do it as far as strength and triangulation. You'll see how it meets up with the other support tubes. That, and he's already going to need to cut into the fiberglass dash to get around the tubes. I didn't want two cuts in my dash, just the one.
was a little worried it would bother me vision wise but I think its one of those things I'll get used to.

Several reasons actually. First is that I didn't want to spend the extra scratch for the cell. Second was with my one off changes there was no room to put in a fuel cell, sway bar, and drop the radiator in behind the tank, and a cell doesn't hold any more fuel than a spun tank. Its bigger sure, but once the bladder goes in it hold about the same.

I can not speak for Tatum but if you know Rich hes not a very talkative guy hes real short and to the point ....The Tools in his truck were probably getting ready for the race in Surprise AZ ? I don't Think hes going anywhere My friend just ordered a 200k Pre runner yesterday and 2 of my other buddies are getting cars completed as we speak not including KMdunes build and all the other ones they have going on that I don't even know about....

Rich's daughter Tatum races just about every weekend. If there is a race in Surprise I'm willing to put a paycheck that she will be racing there this weekend. I gave Rich a very small deposit and he flat out refuses to take any more of my money until the car is done. Even with this thing being one off.
Friend of mine was in there yesterday and said business as usual, in fact it looked as though they had started a new pre-runner chassis. He works accross the street and said, business as usual today as well.
I'll be heading that way tomorrow for updated pics.

just making sure they are not moving to a different location...I just found them and I am thinking of buying a car. When you spend that kind of money on a car you want to make sure you know whats up. I have heard some horror stories.

I've been on the wrong side of one of those horror stories. That's why I will not buy anything other than a Tatum. Something is to be said when a builder takes a one thousand dollar deposit on a 100k car and says "just pay me when its done". That to me tells me his business is healthy and I have nothing to worry about.
Tatum puts out the sickest cars, functionally and looks wise, and have one of if not THE best resale values.

Car is supposed to go to powder next week. I'm thinking the week after. They need to finish the tabbing, build the rear cage, finish weld, and build the wing, which is a one off piece.
Im way excited about the back end of this car. That radiator fitment is sick. (wouldn't be surprised to see Rich do it on more BW's in the future.) The radiator is inside the decklid behind the gas tank, they will tilt it back (had to move rear engine cage bar and put in a bent one) and put 3 1200 cfm fans on it, then form the decklid to route air towards the radiator. The "number plate" which is the sides of the wing will totally cover the entire radiator. The radiator will hardly be visible at all.
here's a cheesy sketch of what it will look like.
