last year at dunefest i saw some people at the camp site across from us riding these tiny 3 wheelers around there camp site track for the entire week and after seeing how much fun they had i decided i had to have one so the search started. and on my birthday my buddy chris surprised me with this
it didnt run so i cleaned the carb and it started right up and we rode it for about 2 weeks before it died and we never could get it started again but i was hooked and already wanted more power. in the mean time i picked up an 82 and a 73 maybe 74 not sure. neither of which ran but we were gonna use them for parts or maybe build later. my buddy wanted to be different so he picked up an atc 90 with plans of putting a lifan in it. so we order ours parts and over the last couple weeks we have been busy working.
mine s a 70 with 125 and my buddies is a 90 with a 140
he has decided to build an oldschool bat man theme so lots of black and bright yellow wheels and possibly flame thrower exhaust lol all with stock size 70 tires. just havent shown up yet so far dune cut and custom handlebars not painted yet we are gonna get them running and then tear back down for paint
on mine ive decided to do a jagermiester themed bike (yes i saw there was another one but im still doing my own) so i ordered new fiberglass fenders color is daytona orange
and i have been in talks with peewee about custom jagermiester decals modeled very closely to the stock decals on my 70 just waiting for some money
more pics later

well all was going well i even rode my 70 for about 5 mins then it died and when trying to restart i stripped out the kick start gear. so im now waiting for my pull start from dratv

. my buddy is still waiting on some parts for his 90 but we have painted the front wheel and have the tire mounted just trying to figure out how we are gonna mount the bat symbol in the center of the rear wheels pics the next time im at my buddies house. although probably not gonna get any work done this weekend as we are going to the dunes. (sand lake).

just a pic of the the 90 front wheel. it was sand blasted premiered then painted john deere yellow. still working on the rears.
my bike finsihed just waiting to do some tuning then ill tear it apart for powder coating and painting.
thinking of ideas for headlights and since everyone pretty much runs a single round headlight. im trying to be a little different by trying some honda ruckus headlights. the usdm one are kinda big but ill test fit them tomorrow, and see what it looks like. if not maybe the jdm headlights as they are smaller.

not much to update other then my 70 is tuned and i rode it all day today. well i guess still have to mount headlight and taillight. the neighborhood kids are very jealous though. im working with peewee as i type this for my graphics and very excited to see what he can come up with. we started doing some more work on the 90. welded a 70 pull start cage to 140 flywheel and ground down the 70 side cover to clear the pickup now just have to order a rebuild kit for the pull start a the spacer plate from dratv. the rear wheels are almost done just need sand blast and painted yellow. so both are coming together very nicely. we are already talking about doing a pair of 110cc e-starts next. sorry forgot my camara pics next time

Was it the forks that were bent or the frame tube?

i thought it was pretty common for the frame tube to bend not the forks? im pretty sure i read a post saying that is one way you straighten them. did i do it wrong?

Lay a straight edge on top of the frame tube to see if it's bent. Do it again on each of the forks. That will tell you which is bent. Your are correct, most of the time it is the frame that bends before the forks from what I have read. But if it was really crashed into something both could be bent. On mine it was just the frame tube. Jeephreak wanted to do it the way you did to his frame, but we just got the carb back on and set up and we didn't want to pull it again. I checked the frame tube and it was fine. So I talked him out of it until the next tear down.
I did it like this. (Bustin-B's photo) You need to go a bit further than straight to accommodate spring back.
This pushes on just the frame to correct a bent frame tube. See the full thread in the
70's Tech articles. It keeps pressure off of the neck bearings/races. If the forks are bent, I would think it better to remove them and put them in a press, again to keep pressure off the neck bearings.
That said if it worked, it worked!

i couldnt wait to finish it i had to take pics sorry they are crappy cell phone pics but my girlfriend has the camara. the plastics are fiberglass ones from ebay color is daytona orange the decals are from peewee ( frickin awesome would recommend him to anyone i cant say enough good things) the orange powder coat is a color called bittersweet orange. wheels are of course from sterdy (would recommend sterdy products to anyone and everyone!) now just need to swap over the other things to make it run again. i will be at dunefest in oregon beginning of august if anyone sees me riding around make sure to say hi. i know there was another jager build so i tried my best to not copy it other then the orange.

note to everyone else dont kreem your tank then send it for powdercoat i dont know if it was the media blasting or the baking but the kreem got cooked pretty badly now instead of white i have brown black substance that i can scrape off any ideas how to remove the old kreem so i can do it again

just some more pics like the polished pull start and the headlights mounted. ordered up my regulator/rectifier and harness from dr atv it should be here end of the week. also installed the baja grab bar so i wont break the fiberglass in a failed wheelie attempt. i got my other buddy into 70s so he went out and bought a 79 with a 3 speed.(although tank is from an 84) his plastics were pretty beat so we swapped my old stuff on to his but not bad for 300 bucks he is already ordering parts for his. tomorrow will post pics of the batman bike as it is coming together nicely
