I hate the battery in the yfz450. i came across this...............http://atv.off-road.com/atv/article/articleDetail.jsp?id=192624 is this a good idea? or a bad one? will it hurt anything? will the same holding bracket still work? it puts off a little more juice to solve the problem of the 450 slow starts but will that extra power hurt anything?

Looks like it only increases the cold cranking amps, not the voltage. The starter and other accessories will only draw what they need. I say for two extra pounds it sounds like a good solution.

Seems like a good solution, but I would get the specs on that battery and check the height. It's difficult to tell in the picks, but it appears slightly taller, so not sure if the holding bracket will work.
i couldnt find the exact 600 battery but foung one the same as it but 1/4 inch taller......it took a whole lot of grinding and cutting but i made it fit barely. the bracket dosnt sit flech with the frame anymore, its off by like a 1/8 of and inch......but it works. the battery is charging right now ill let you know if it works.

forgot to do the pictures, ill get some after ones tomarow.......It works AMAZINGLY, it fires up instantly compared to the old cut out and chokes when i used to try and start it. Took it out to speedworld yesterday and ran it pretty good, it held up grate, didnt rattle loose and i feel alot safer on it now knowing it will start and the battery isnt going to be dead. I would definately do it if you gotta do a battery on the 45o, its like # es9bs at walmart for $45.00, plus a hour or two of trimming and gutting plastics with dykes, tin snips, and a reciprocating saw

Did the same thing to the kid's bike and it still didn't start as well as when it had stock compression. Looked at the stock positive cable which seemed kind of small, smaller in diameter than the ground, so I used a little larger diameter cable and made up a new one. I also put star washers on the ground contact and it fires up easy now.
