What do I need to make it work properly. I've seen it done on banshee's and non battery 450r's. Is there a kit someone sells? Do I need a small battery, resistors etc.. Just gonna do a couple lazer handlebar mount ones pretty much.

Rectifier to change AC coming from stator to DC. Regulator. Large capacitor or battery. May have to have stator re wound.

Could you do that on a 83 250r as well?

probably not gonna be worth it considering the resale of these old bikes.

pretty sure Baja Designs has a small battery for $40
if you do a single HID i dont think you have to rewind the stator
give baja designs a call! they are great help on these questions!

thought about doing this set up on my banshee after I talked to one of the guys at trailtech http://www.trailtech.net/helmet_light_kits.html but it is some $$$

I used the trailtech set up and it was awe inspiring.
Use it in combo with your stock light and you will see how intense the trailtech really is.

I have a pair of HID's that Velcro to your helmet. They run off a battery pack which you recharge. That is the cheapest way to have HID's on a 250r. I don't have depth perception at night and they do me no good. If interested PM me and I will sell the setup to you.

You just running the halogens? If so what wattage and did you upgrade the stator?
journeyman
LBZ, the trail tech comes with it's own battery pack, completely independent of the bike
