im getting the parts over the summer....no one is ever satisfied with stock quads...I WANT MORE POWER!!

Apr 26 2004, 09:52 AM
You bought this quad because it was cheaper than the YFZ and the TRX. Now you're dumping more into it? It's gonna end up costing more than the other bikes. Plus you'll never get the money out of it. Especially when you try to sell it once it starts making noise.

Could of got a Z droped money into pipes, jetting, filter set up, cams and dyna ignition and it would beat many bikes, droping about 1200 dollars into a Z will be just as much as getting that raptor and you would be able to smoke the raptor

Apr 26 2004, 04:23 PM
No i was talking to everybody,i would of got a raptor but we got a Z because it was affordable, but i dont think you can get cams for $100 and a good piston for $100, besides you have to think that some pistons have a higher compresion and sometimes you would have to run race gas, and if you were to get soem cams get the hotcams intake and exhaust, which you might need some heavy duty valve springs so the valves close faster, there alot to think about, just ask us about anything and you will get a good response, so what cams and piston wre you thinking of?

Shovel Narb, remember you're gonna lose a little reliability. You might have to run race gas too. It's not cheap...
If you were planning on doing all of these mods before you should've went with another bike. Not trying to rag on you at all. But I've seen the stock YFZ's and I'm very impressed at their performance. Stock Raptors let me down.

with an ltz 400, you only need race gas if you go above 12:1 compression
Rubberneck
Apr 27 2004, 03:11 PM
Is that the same for the raptor? He doesn't have a ltz.

i know with a 11:1 for a raptor you need 93 octane...

Your nuts if your think your only going to spend a couple hundred bucks for those performance mods..
You will need to alter/replace the intake, filter, jetting/carb/exhaust.
Do the pistion and cam first and you will break.. be smart about it.. Do the intake and exhaust first to wake that bike up.. there is alot of power in just that alone.. Then decide if you want to tear in to internals..
Dang kids..

Best to put your money into suspension on the Raptor so you don't roll the thing when you turn!

Not hating SB, they are very fast and powerful. I have ridden them, and do not feel stable on them, IMO they need a longer swing arm and wider a-arms. I ride DS650, so I am a little spoiled with suspension!

They are only 3" taller than the banshe and yfz, the yfz and banshee are the same height, they are only 1" taller than my Z, and only 1" lees wider
