Does anyone have one of these 450. I am looking at one. I have rode one at the dunes and was pretty happy with the ride. There is not much out in dirt wheels on this machine as far as how they hold up. I have not seen many mods for the quad either. I would like to see if anyone has had one for a while and how the reliability is. Thanks any input would be nice.

ATV Rider Magazine did one not too long ago. So did Quad magazine. Only problems I've heard from the pro's who race em are a weak upper rear control arm mount (which I beleive ATV FOUR PLAY has a support thingy) Other than that I haven't seen the Can Am's have many problems. I Dont know where abouts clackama's OR is but the guys who know the Can Ams the best are the MOTOWORKS race team. The next two closet races to you are coming up. One in Washington in july and one this weekend in Nor Cal about an hour north of Reno, NV. Place called Honeylake mx park off hwy 395

Love mine. I have a 09 DS450X XC. Had it out in Glamis a couple times and it is very fun. Really nice suspension and power for a stock bike. In a month or so my warranty ends so I will get a pipe and stuff then to wake it up.
The main issue with them is the clutch. I guess the basket is weak and can come apart, and the rivets holding the gear onto the basket break off. Get a new clutch for it and you are good to go. I plan on updating mine this summer since my warranty will expire soon.
I love the bike, i have a DS650 also, I still kinda prefer the 650 cause I'm a big guy, but the 450 gets me around great, very much worth the money.

Ya, it has a pink wire sticken out of the harness that you snip and it is a new map. It's there for adding a pipe and airbox lid off. Only thing is it voids your warranty so I'm waiting to do that too.
My front brakes have started squeakin, but haven't heard of any issues.
Oh and the EFI is so nice. I've had the bike up in Show Low, AZ from Phoenix. Thats around 6500ft up in elevation and it's nice to have it at a perfect tune without screwin with it!
You wont be sorry u got the bike, at least I'm not and haven't seen too many people that are.

Thanks for the input. I think that it is a nice bike. My wife has a yfz-450 it has a harsh ride intil I put the elka dune editions on it. They helped a lot. I was very disapointed with it for how much we spent. The yfz was the worst ridding bike we have owned. My honda 450 was nice. I sold the honda and lookind for another 450. I have it down to the Honda and the cam am.
Thanks again for the input

My good buddy bought an 08 DS. We cut the pink wire, threw on a Motoworks slipon, and popped the lid off and slapped on one of my old K&Ns from my Honda (direct fit). That effer rips for a relatively stock bike. It takes other bikes a lot of coin to achieve that kind of get up. They did a nice job on the OEM susp too I think....very progressive.
The clutch thing supposedly only plagued the 08s.

The YFZ is more race oriented out of the box than other 450 class quads. The suspension feels better the harder you push it. It was not designed for a plush ride. The raptor700 is a better bike in that respect. The YFZ is definitely not a bike you buy to cruise on.
