They sure look good. Was at Citrus Ford looking at one while my 08' 450 was getting service. Let us know some feedback especially the fuel mileage. The 2 things I hate about the 6.4's. Gas mileage and the damn turbo lag. Do not know how many times I step on the gas and it does not move for about 2 seconds (its like a throttle delay). Drives me nuts. But the dealer says nothing is wrong.
X2
We can't just jump out in front of trafffic and hit it becuz of the lag, however, we can pull anything up any hill anytime with ease!!
So you have this problem as well? I have not driven in any other 6.4 besides my own and thought I was the only one. Is the gear vendor worth it? Were did you get yours done? also, do you have programmer? Thanks sorry for all the questions.
The Gear Vendor is worth every penny, but very expensive! 4K to be exact. I got it done at Unitrax in Anaheim, www.gounitrax.com .
I have a P.P.E. programmer www.pacificp.com on it with banks exhaust, and intake.
On the freeway I like to drive or tow about 70-80mph, at 80 mph gear vendor off rpms are about 3000, 80mph gear vendor on rpms are about 2100. Huge difference!
I tow a 2007 5th 3905 Weekend warrior.
I'm going to look into the gear vendor unit. Thanks again.
If your ever in the Orange County area, ill let you test drive mine so you can see how it works b4 you spend some the $$$?
Thanks for the offer.......

The Spartan tunes will fix the 6.4 lag right away. My 08 with the 210 builds boost yesterday. And they have great tranny tuning as well.
It's to bad they took out the big rear end and did away with the 19.5s. They basically just turned it into the F350.
I've been looking into the spartan tune, but just do not want to get caught running without the dpf/cat. I have heard of chp doing checks to wards Sacramento. Not that I drive there, but they can start doing it anywhere. Also my trailer is 15k-18k lbs and from what I've read that can cause some problems. But I have not talked to Spartan about my concerns. I just got the truck out of the shop for tire rotation (not to many places rotate 19.5's) and my concerns on turbo lag, but dealer says she running fine.
I would not do any tune without doing the DPF delete. All it does is make the truck go into regen faster because of the dirtier tunes. Let me make an analogy...Go run around the block with a straw in your mouth and then you will know how the truck feels with a DPF on it. No to mention the 6.4 goes into regen WAY more often than the 07.5+ LMM or 6.7. I tow more then you do on a daily basis and do not have tranny or EGT issues with the Spartan 210 tune. Normal EGTs are about 8-900 on flat, and 1100-1200 on a grade at between 70-75 MPH.

Yeah, no more 19.5 wheels. Just another way Ford tried to better the fuel milege. From what I hear is the 2011 450 are basicly like the towboss 350. I also hear that fuel milege is awesome with these trucks.
Jayrock, what's your fuel milege with the gearvendor? I got the same truck and gears. Was just thinking on getting bigger tires for it to get the mpg's up.
Nice looking truck!!
ntenufsun,
I would i say i gained 2-3 miles per gallon. You said you have the same setup as mine, so you know at 75-80mph the motor is just revving way too high for me at about 2800-3000 rpms. I tell you, if I didn’t go with the Gear Vendor, my next option would have been to rear gear the truck front & rear to 410’s, because I tow about a 17-18k lb 5th wheel, and use the gear vendor about 80% of the time while towing! So that tells me I could of geared it down to 410’s no problem and probably for a lot less money than the Gear Vendor, unless you tow real heavy trailers up big grades all the time.
done-it-rite,
I just ordered the Sparton Tuner & DPF delete kit for my truck, they said by those two things alone I should increase to about 3-5 miles per gallon depending on driving conditions, deleting the DPF having the most to do with it. I believe this, because about two years ago we put a straight pipe system on my boys 2008 6.4 removing the DPF & the Cat, and what a HUGE difference it made on the miles per gallon gain & performance! The only problem was the programmer didn’t always tell the computer that it was still there, so it always threw codes. However, with this Sparton, they are saying it does all that & is undetectable when you remove it to the dealers. I got no choice but to try it out and see.
Also, Morgan stated on here that it removed a lot of the turbo lag, and he has had no problems with his.
I’ll keep you guy’s posted after i install it, and do some Havasu runs with it!!
The Spartan is traceable, just have to have the right scanner. The only thing I do not like about the Spartan is it takes half an hour to save the stock tune, and half an hour to download a Spartan Tune. Not very easily switchable. I get about 19-20 empty and 12-14 loaded with the 210 tune and 4.30s. With the 4.30s the 6.4 trucks like to pull just a touch more RPM then a normal diesel would.
