Ok, so looking over my online service manual,
got some questions maybe you guys can answer:

1. For rear shock, it says to charge with nitrogen,
where are you guys getting it? Why cant i
just use compressed air like on front?

2. For front forks, it says to fill with 5.8-6.0oz ATF
then pressurize to 1.4-7.0psi.
Why use ATF instead of fork oil?

3. Does anyone know of a good, inexpensive place
to have the cylinder honed/bored? Or have a extra cheap
one lying around?

4. If needed how would I go about straightening
the carrier the steering stem goes through?

This might not be needed if its just due to front forks. Fingers crossed.

5. Was told the front wheel/axle is from a 350x,
how do i get it centered in the forks?

I know i'll have many more questions to come, with
your help hopefully be out there soon . . .

Looking to start working through this to get into running
condition. Then gotta get it registered/stickered.

Any motorcycle shop or offroad suspension shop can fill the shock to whatever pressure you want. Nitrogen doesn't expand with heat like air does. Those forks are old tech. New forks don't use a compressed gas at all.
2. For front forks, it says to fill with 5.8-6.0oz ATF

Again, old technology. ATF was also used in the transmissions in those days. It is much cheaper than dedicated fork or trans oil yet is basically the same stuff.

one lying around?

Any machine shop can bore/hone it for you. Make sure to bring your new piston so they can check tolerences in the new bore.

Sorry... I'm not the guy for trikes. Try GlamisGreengo or Tres, they are both trike guys. If it was an 86 quad or an 05 I'd be all answers icon_wink.gif

number 1
if your shock is saggin you probably blew a seal and shouldnt waste your time on having it refilled
number 2, atf is a detergent and very thin and kind to seals. I have owned over 12 atc's 8 of them 250R's 4 of them airfoolers
instead of atf, use sythetic motor oil, i weigh in at 250 and straight 40 weight sets the forks up just perfect. DO NOT RUN AIR, no pressure, you kill seals
number 3
same as fireball, any place can do it.
number 4, its not your forks, your neck is bent, I had it happen to one of my 83's. you need to build a jig that will hold the neck straight. I used a torch and come alongs to straighten things out.
number 5, your spacers arent the correct 83 250R spacers,
Timmay
Post more close up pics of the front wheel - axle.
