Anyone have recomendation on an automatic pool vacuum? I currently have a broken kreepy krauly. It worked good for 2.5 years but it got broken beyond repair. I liked it but my neighbor said its junk and the hayward navigator is the ticket. Anyone know?

hayward navigator.......... 4 years with it and just had it repaired a month ago .....
edit to add that the vaccum has performed great the past 4 years climbs up the walls and these are some steep walls, sucks up a lot of the finer stuff like dust from a windy day or light algae and small leaves and what not..... overall satisfied with it

My girlfriend bought an aquabot rover jr. plus C cleaner from costco ($480) and we had a chance to try it out. It will pick up most loose items on the pool floor and will even climb the walls with no problem. There is usually no dirt on the walls though. If there is anything stuck on like mustard algae, it will not clean it off. It's easy to set up and doesn't seem to ever tip over. Emptying the internal collection bag is easy. Downsides are the entire thing except the motor is plastic and storage can be a hassle.

x3 Nic,

I,ve had mine since 2003. Had to replace a few parts that wear out from normal use but it's good.

Navigator. First one lasted 10 years. Just bought another. Climbs the walls and cleans great.

I have had a kreepy on my rental house for years with almost no problems. Just replace the skirt every few years. That pool has a white plaster coating. Kreepy goes up the walls all he way to the water surface. Last fall I bought anouther house and this pool is very big and has a rough pebbletech finish. I installed a kreepy and it did not work well. It would get stuck in the deep end and would not cover the entire pool. I switched to the Hayward Pool Vac Ultra about two months ago. Got one at Leslies Pool Suppy for $300 after a $100 mail in rebate. It works very well. It cleans the sides of the pool up to the water surface and gets into every corner of this fairly large pool - 35,000 gallons. So it really depends on your pool type. I would absolutely go with a well known brand and a model that has been out for many years. They all have parts that wear out and you want them to be readily available.

hayward navigator or pool vac ultra or whatever its called, they last for ever and if it does break they are cheaply repairable

We've had this for the last 3 years. Works real well. Had to replace the little plastic sleeve inside once.

How much you asking for it?

Navigator works really well. If you have pebble bottom pool you will need to replace the little urethane feet every couple years. A local pool store will have parts.

How about a $100? I paid over $300 for it at the begining of last pool season.
