TNT coverages totally SUCKS compared to FOX!

Miscalling car #'s, blaming drivers for wrecks before they look at all the views, terrible interviews and cameras etc etc etc. Doug and I can sit in the living room and call the race better than the TNT people!

Kyle Petty is not great, and thank God Larry McReynold is still around, all the rest of them SUCK! We might just watch the next race on mute and call it ourselves.
And seriously Joey Lagano comes down into Harvick and spins himself (bad spotter) and goes over to pick a fight with Harvick. And almost cries in his interview . And he is complaining that they don't treat him with respect or like a man, well stop crying, there ain't no crying in NASCAR Joey. Go back to dirt if you wanna cry!

That was a real dig when you called Harvick "stupid" and his wife makes all the decisions. Well he is leading the points right now, must have a smart wife

And what was the deal with Joey's dad coming over there and telling his kid to go get Harvick after the race? Oh that is real nice there DAD, way to get your kid in trouble with NASCAR.

Lots of Teammates duking it out this season, glad everyone was ok after that BIG crash at the end.

well, I don't take nascar as seriously as you obviously do, but I will agree that TNT sucks for their coverage. I think nascar really hurts their fans by splitting the coverage between 28 different networks, and also agree that of all of the ones I've seen, Fox definitely has the best coverage, and best announcers.

Looked like Harvick took Logano out to me. If I were Logano, payback would be at the last race causing Harvick the championship.

Best thing about TNT's coverage is AC/DC

for a coule of seconds as they go to commercial other wise it does suck. At least they got rid of Bill Webber I couldn't stand that Guy.

Iam calling it right now, but Joey Langano will not be alive at the end of his career. I have followed that kid a long time and watched him in his last Toyota Socal Shootout, the kid has always been a "rich kid", he can drive but he isnt half the driver the old timers where at his age. If we could pull a Nascar sacrifice id send Lagano and ask for Earnhardt back. I grew up watchin races at Charlotte Speedway and the day that man died the sport has just gone south every since, he was the mans man, now we have fat (_|_) stewart, Prep boy Gordon and get me a Walker Martin. Jimmy Johnson is the only friggin one thats still a racer, lives a racer, and cares about the sport.

I have no prob with DW, hello better than Mikey announcing (about time they got him off the track!) and I also am a Jimmie fan. I am all for the younguns coming up in the sport but,,,they also gotta know that the old timers aren't gonna let them have a free pass. Joey was in the wrong on that spin out and he did a great job saving it, but to have him act like that was total

Gotta dissagree there Queeny Happy was going to make Sliced Bread move up the track and Sliced Bread was going to make Happy move down. They have a history and don't realy get along to well and it was just a respect and racing thing. If Sliced Bread would of just climbed out of the car and said my fault sorry Happy would keep doing it to him until he got in his face. NASCAR has told the drivers to take the gloves off and it's about time to see some passion from the teams and Drivers.

Yea the COT's have detracted from the racing. Not just in the Cup series but they had to slow down the Nationwide and Truck series cars so the Cup cars weren't the slowest. The first year they were until they made the Nationwide and Trucks add restrictor plates.
A big reason for the COT's was to eliminate the need to build so many cars and that's not panning out. They have a new car almost every race. But they are safer.
I agree Fox has the best coverage. They seem to take the lighter side. The other networks are very stuffy, just the facts ma'am coverage. At one point yesterday I was looking at the tracker to see how many of the contestants they never even mentioned. Lot's of them. I think the only mention of Martin was that last wreck. I wonder if it has to do with their sponsors not paying "promotional" fees???

Nascar is becoming such a joke any more. Boogity boogity, Digger, Nascar Angels, a friggen Nascar talent show, token minority host's,mysterious debris cautions, and how about the cautions thrown when a car spins on a backstretch with no one near and keeps going? Its getting to the point where it seems like I'm watching Wall Mart on four wheels. On top of that, about half of the drivers couldn't drive a nail. One of the only sports out there where you become a "star" if you have a famous father or brother. Kyle Petty? Michael Waltrip? Dale Jr? Are you serious?

I agree with you 100%
I crew chiefed a kid a few years back here in Tucson. The next year he ran a full time year at Irwindale and won the championship. he actually got a tryout with roush. out of the 5 drivers, he was the fastest every run. When it was all done they asked, "so, what sponsorship package do you bring with you" One of the slowest of the 5 got the ride due to being able to put a million bucks on the table. I have no idea why they even had a tryout. Should have just put a ride up for sale. "bring a mill and drive a racecar"...

That was TNN, the Nashville Network. They would do the races CBS and ESPN didn't do. Back in the early days CBS had first dibs because they brought Nascar to television.
I totally agree that the yellow flag has flown much more since they made the last TV deal. And why do they have to run 6 caution laps to pick up a piece of alledged "debris"???

I too used to think it was a bunch of rednecks turning left (well it was back in the day

) but if you take just a little time, do some research and really watch a couple races with an open mind (they also race road courses FYI) you'll see that NASCAR is a piece of American history. And the drivers are really athletes, it is not easy to drive @ 200 mph, concentrate on everything going on around you, fighting the G forces and do it for 500-600 miles in one sitting with a few 14 second "breaks" on pit road. I am in it for the fun of it, I think it has a lot of science and technology in the cars, and is good entertainment. So before you make fun of the "rednecks" do a little research. The current 4 time Champ (in a row I might add) is Jimmie Johnson and he is from El Cajon and grew up racing dirt bikes.

A little more about Jimmie:
Johnson and his wife, Chandra, founded the Jimmie Johnson Foundation in 2006 to assist children, families and communities in need throughout the United States. ... During the 2000 season, Johnson was selected as one of People Magazine's "Sexiest Men in the Fast Lane," along with other NASCAR drivers. ... Johnson was the youngest driver ever in the Mickey Thompson Stadium Truck Series. ... Johnson and Jeff Gordon joined World Superbike champion Colin Edwards in Europe, and won the 2002 Race of Champions Nations Cup, an annual event pitting the world's best rally, motorcycle and circuit racers against one another in head-to-head competition.

During green flag laps, very few cars come into the pits at the same time. The risk would be very low. Im OK with speed limits during yellows as all the cars are coming in. During greens, they are racing, let them race. Pit stops are as much a part of racing as the on track action.
As Doug said, risk is part of racing.

I like the idea of extra points for winning. make it worth something. My opinion, the wave around is stupid. Why should you be GIVEN a lap and why should the fast guys have to give it to you? You want it, earn it on the track. A few weeks back there were 8 cars on the lead lap, after a caution, there were 28 cars on the lead lap...sorry, that isnt racing.

it got boring the last few years.
Splitting the coverage up on different channels sucks.
having the race at irregular times doesn't help their viewage either.
For example, you know you can turn on a football game every Sunday during the season at 10am or 1:15 pm.
But Nascar could be on Saturday or Sunday at just about any time.
The stands have been empty and they are giving away a large percentage of the seats for free just to make it look like the crowd is bigger.
