The Maxxis are a good tire too. My dad had good luck with his, and they sit out at the river every summer.

Buy AMERICAN!

Michelin XPS Rib or GoodYear Marathon....

I personally have the Michelin with lots of miles and 5 years on them with no issues!!! beer.gif
RhinoMan
I have friends that have both the Goodyear Unisteel and Michelin ribs and they're very happy with them, they are expensive. I have Goodyear Marathons. I have 16 in wheels and I use the 235/80/16 load range E tires and I am also very Happy with them. They a somewhat cheaper than the other ones mentioned (about $150 each) but it adds up quickly with 6 tires to buy. I got them at Daniels, and there is one in Chula Vista
bgchlln
make sure the Marathons are made in USA. They also have a China made version of the Goodyear Marathon that is no good!
sanddunesaddict
all of my Marathons blew out in less than a year.maybe they were the china ones.
I have had awesome luck with my Carlisles on my Haulmark.
On my Gearbox I have trailmasters with 0 issues.I will put XPS ribs when I need new tires.

2 friends of mine ran the Maxxis and couldnt evern get a single trip without an issue and they werent overloaded.

I am shocked you tires are 8 years old....holy crap!!!

What size are you running?
Sand Dude
If you are asking me, I have 5 years with no issues and I am running the LT235/85R16/E.

They still look brand new!

I paid $1000 cash for 4 of them mounted and balanced and that was a CASH DEAL. beer.gif

Maxxis on the Boat trailer and the Toy hauler. No problems 4 years on boat trailer three on hauler.
mortbike
run maxxis on the boat trailer as well as the sea-doo trailer, no problems, also i replace tires every two years just to be safe....
hotrod1934

wtf???

i would think a tire that is designed to be on the ground for just a few second, would not be the best choice for a trailer! laughing.gif

how long have you had em? what kinna trailer are they on? inquiring minds wanna know!!!
hotrod1934
ive got a 12,000ib forklift plus trailer (flatbed) close to 16,000ib total. i tow to on/off load material. it will almost be 10 years now that we've had those tires, we use them day in and day out.
saychz316
i just made the jump to michelin xps ribs. 235/85r-16

shock.gif 2100.00 mounted and balanced for 8. triple axle trailer and two spares.

they have about 1000 miles on them so far, and they track and tow nicely!!
rollo61
better act fast on the USA marathons as they are moving production back to china, xps's are the best but if you have 15" rims you will have to buy all new rims as the smallest ones they make are 16", in my case I'd have to buy 7 rims and tires so I went the maxxis, great tire and no problems.

Wow. Thats pretty wild. Do you have a link to what kinna tires these are? I'd really like more info o this. Thanks!
chopshop
I had issues with my 15"s seperating . More than one set too. I stepped up to 16"s. load E 10 ply 80 psi. L/T tire. The tires no longer look flat when trailer is loaded .

4 rims , tires w/ certificates , caps, lugs, valve stems , mounted and balanced. To my door from Discount Tire $858 bucks.
ElCaminoManT
yup, runnin 16" LT tires on my triple axle 5er. the previous owner had nothing but problems with the goodyear marathons that the trailer came with. since switching to bridgestone LT tires, not a single problem!

however, if sticking with the 15" tires i suggest either the maxxis or greenballs. never had a prob with the greenball tires.
whoopsadaisy
I dont really like Carlisle.

ElCaminoManT
me neither. my old warrior had a carlisle for the spare. it never once hit the pavement, was always kept at correct pressure and in its A-frame holder under the trailer. well, it blew out one day and tossed part of the tread off!!!!! i only noticed it because it was falling out of the holder on my way to G one night!!!

my tires are 225/75/15 i guess im luckier than i thought.
cartwrencher
I had Maxxis and liked their 5 year warranty, (weather cracking was included).

I then upgraded to the 16" Michelin XPS Ribs which have a 6 year warranty and one of the strongest side walls available for an E rated tire.

Wouldn't happen to have any of the "trash" tires from the last go-around still out back would ya?
Duneroller
I run Maxxis now. Had Marathon's and I had no problems with them, but they did look flat all the time and were only Load Range D's. Moved up to E's since I didn't really have the $ to buy 16 rims and tires. They have been great and definitely tow better than the D's.
jchappy
I have Greenballs and they work pretty good (2yrs no problems)

I hear that Denman make an awesome trailer tire.
Rockwood
We've had 16" E-rated LTs on our toyhauler for 6 or 7 years now, the first two years were without tire covers (previous owner was a family member that bought it to live in while her house in Crest was rebuilt). Going to replace them this summer since I don't want to risk it any more.

Never had an issue with sway, wind, blowouts, etc. This is on a 37' 5th wheel garage model with a living room slide. Weighed in at 15.5k lbs.
charred1
Denman Cargo Carriers 10ply load E. Best tire for the money. Paid $476.98 for 6 new tires mounted, balanced and enviromental fee.
HOWIE
I put the Denmans on my tripple axle toy hauler and they have been the best tire ever. I have about 60 of them on units at work and they are best tire out right now.
BigBlockTank
I put Michelin XPS ribs on my 39' GearBox right after I bought it last June. No problems so far, $1808 certs, mounted, etc. out the door. I get a military discount, so 10% off that if your Discount gives military discount

That's a lotta cheddah for tires... kenk.gif

I like my $700 mounted and balanced LTs that seem to last plenty long, thanks. icon_biggrin.gif

Local americas tire wanted 130 each plus tax, mounting, etc.
raptorflash
Charred1, where did you buy your denman's from?
O Soto Gari
my boat came new with Marathons on the trailer.. had 2 of them separate and had one lose the tread last weekend on the way to the lake. Would never buy another set.

Just reading the thread as I'm looking for tires, boat / Warrior. Goodyear website says if running over 65 mph, increase cold inflation pressure 10 psi over stated max. Never knew that until last night, and I'm running these on boat and Warrior. Got a quote for 104.00 each for the Maxxis 10 ply, and can't find Denman as I guess they closed their doors. Titan purchased the assets but don't think they're making tires yet. Have 6 year old Marathons on the Warrior now and they are weather checked. Guess it's between another set of Marathons or the Maxxis. Does anybody know where the Maxxis are made?

Where did you find this? I can't seem to find that they are a French owned company. I can see that they are manufactured in different countries, but I don't find that they are French owned.
Would you share, please. I did buy the XPS Ribs, and I could change my mind about future tire purchases. Thanks

Terra Trailer, near Santee Drive-In.

FYI: Great place for tires, but bad for service work.

Adding the 10 psi applies to ST (special trailer) rated tires.
