i started on my dove tail install today and it went faster and easier than i thought it would.

i cut off the ramp storage angle iron and cleaned up the rear of the trailer. then i cut the side extensions to give me a 4" drop over 27" with 13" of ground clearance. i beveled all of the new metal to trailer and tacked it on and checked for square. hopefully tomorrow i can weld it out and install the fish plates to the side splice area. could not have had better weather for a AZ weekend in June.

It took you all day to do that? what did you do after lunch? JK drummer.gif

Thats a good start. Do you plan to gusset where the new attach's to the old? Maybe some plate on the outside of the rail that extends a foot or so past each side of the joint. Then maybe a couple trusses under in the areas that will support the most weight.

My bad I didn't see that you mentioned fish plating it. Sorry

yes its a mofo outside. even at 6am in the morning its 100*. i worked on my RZR last summer in the garage and it sucked. i even installed a window ac unit and turned it on 2 hours before i went out there and it only got down to 90* in there. must be 120* inside my garage in the summer.
