ONE-A-DAY
Over my 20 odd years of street bike riding I have had 4 Ducati's. Like many, I regret selling every motorcycle I have ever had. There is something about a street bike that after many rides, many miles, and many memorable experiences that you should never part with them, just park them in a corner and retire them. I keep coming back to Ducati's. They seem to stir my sole more than Japanese bikes or Harley's. Its been a few years since I have been away from sport bikes, I did the whole Harley thing, and while they are fun in there own type of way, there is nothing that does it for me better than an italian v-twin on an early morning canyon ride or a track day.

Found this gem, Ducati S2R Monster 1000, fired it up, and it somehow spoke to me, that we were made for each other.

Thanks Walt. I bet Amy $20.00 that you'd show up with a new toy within a month of your boat project being done. You didn't even make it a week.

Ducs seem to do that alot more than the japanese bikes. Hell, more than most any bikes except for classic british iron. I have never owned one for fear of the maintainance but have lusted after many an Italian redhead since the gorgeous 916 first reached our shores. Those arrow pipes cost a pretty penny. How do they sound? Congrats on the new pasta rocket.

The oil cooled dual valve motors have been around for ever in Ducati's and the maintenance is not bad. The multi valve liquid cooled motors in the 916, and newer superbikes is pretty spendy to maintain with frequent valve adjustments. I found this Monster with 2300 miles on it. Its an 07, so its fuel injected and still has the dry clutch. The owner bought it new, dropped the $1400 on the full Arrow exhaust and ECU, and did a few other mods, but not too many. The newer Ducatis are starting to go with a wet clutch. I think a Ducati needs to make the signature clutch rattle, its part of the heritage. I love being at a stop light and the car next to you beeps their horn and rolls down their window "dude something is wrong with your bike".

It's that desmo valve train that scares me. I don't know how to adjust it. laughing.gif My buddy does his ST2 on his own. He had to buy a few specialty tools but enjoys the work. Does yours require the valves done every 5K or 7K miles? I think the dry clutch is an aquired taste. Bikes these days just don't sound that mechanical and people can't place the sound. A blip of the arrows will distract them though. thumb.gif

the shop foreman at my old shop had a monster and that dry clutch was somethin to get used to, what a beast! im not a street bike guy, but a ducati just looks soooo sexy compared to the japenese bikes

I had a Multi Strada last summer and couldn't get used to the sound of the clutch. Guess it's a sign of getting old. LOL

i really want an 1198 with a set of temignoni's on it...

the v-twin sounds and feels so cool.

while the jap bikes kill em in speed, there is just something about the twin....

i need another street bike.
