My sons first day of summer break and he is already bored.

I checked into Boys and Girls club and its 115.00 a week

and thats not including
weekly field trips and outings.
Does anyone have any other suggestions? Im not the type of mom that
allows her kids to sit at home and watch t.v and play video games all day.
Thanks

Nothing is going to be really inexpensive but there's always the following: swim/water polo classes, karate/martial arts, some sort of art class,(pottery etc.) softball, soccer, the beach, vacation/road trip. My kids were told to make a list of three items they would like to do, choose one for sure, and they would have to do at least one. Older daughter has cheer practice almost all summer, so I only have to worry about amusing two. Good luck!

I offer to come home at lunch and take the younger 2 (9 and 12) to the local pool for 75 cents each + a couple bucks for snacks. IF they have chores done and are ready to go when I get here.
I can't afford "camp" for 10-2pm 4 days a week @ 120.00 a week EACH.

Check your school district, to see if they have a program, Long beach has a summer program for 50 a week.

My parents don't have to worry about keeping me occupied haha, i have a truck and a drivers license, so i'm never home during the summer anymore hahaha, its keeping me home is the problem they have.
And when i was little my mom dropped me off at the neighbors house, (his mom didnt work) and i would play in the backyard all day, weather it was swimming, playing in the dirt, or getting into a fist fight over little things i was never in the house or bored.

We just got a membership for the YMCA.. Plan on sending my daughter there alot this summer (she's 13)
Tons and tons of stuff to do, but I don't know if it would keep him occupied all day..
There are boxing, karate, yoga, swimming, weights, gravity, etcc classes every day..
We paid 150 to join and 70 per month for the whole family.

Check your local High Schools and see if they offer wrestling/tennis/track. that takes up a few hours and keeps them active. My youngest assist in the monster mat which is for younger kids wrestling. Most high schools offer some sort of activity...

Tie them out in the yard, in the shade of course. Leave an ice chest of water and some snacks! Problem Solved
When my kids were that age they stayed home and played maybe a few chores. I had to be careful of food choices in the house because bored kids eat more junk.
I made business cards for them. Dog walking-babysitting And on the back had car washing and yard work. They made some summer money and put it towards extra's they wanted for when school started. You know name brand whatever I didnt see the point in buying for them.
So they would make their cash and we would go to the swap meet and they would see how much they could get for their money! It was a pretty good lesson. Better than summer camp.
Oh and I bought an ice machine for snow cones and my son and his friends had a snow cone stand. They loved that.

I would love to see him working. I think its a terrific idea for a kid his age. Unfortunately.. its 15 1/2 to gert a workers permit.
