Well I got the Lifan in from pccmotor on Tuesday. Immediately took the flywheel off to be machined down. Then proceeded to cut the intake manifold near the bottom, rotate it, and reweld it so the Mikuni carb would fit under the gas tank.

Modded the throttle cable at the thumb end using a generic barrel stop. Already had the muffler semi done and was just waiting for the lifan so I could finish by adding a little extension.

Wired it up which took about 5 seconds was I was assured that my coil was a factory freak:)

Anyway...here's a quick video

this is a kickstart model...minus the kickstart. I just used a dratv spacer, lathed the flywheel down, drilled/tapped it, and installed the honda pull start piece.

As for the dub. there are a few that make a background appearance.

The beetle is a 58 I bought from the original owner's widow. The white passat is my wife's daily and I think my Rabbit GTI diesel conversion is in the background too.

I'm a VW nut case.
