Our Belgian Malinois (German Shepard looking) has really bad gas lately. Clear the room kind of gas. It's really bad. Is there somthing we can do? He's been eating the same food since we brought him home from the shelter over a year ago. Nothing has changed around the house. I can't think of anything that is stressing him out. His life couldn't be much easier.

What kind of food is on? I have a German Shepherd and a Belgion Malinois. Both of mine are on a grain free diet and Natures variety raw diet too. I work in a feed store and I have come across dogs that get bad gas where they can clear a room. I bet it has to do with his diet. Even though he has been on the same food they can get allergies from it. or if it has grains in it that might not be digesting it.

I just saw this thread. If you have not found the answer to your question, I can add that a small amount of Brewers Yeast is what a lot of breeders use to control gas.

As others have said, the number one thing to check first is your dogs diet. With regular GSD's NuTro Large Breed seems to work well with their digestive system. Even for dogs who are on a high level training or working regime.

One last thing. If you had not made a change in your dog's diet and the gas started happening. You might want to seriously consider bringing a fecal sample (YOUR DOG's....lol) to your vet. There are quite a few parasites that will cause heavy gas in the dogs system. Giardia being one which comes to mind.

Forgot about my thread. His diet seemed like a logical place to start. Went to the feed store down the street and asked what they recommend. Now he is eating Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul.

He seems to like like it and he is stink free. yay.gif

Glad to hear.

Did you get enough photos at the SSSSSSSSS to do your normal thread?

laugh1.gif Ya I took a little over 1,800 but after deleting the fuzzy ones I only have about 1,600. Bad lighting and still not knowing how to use the camera was a real bummer.
