For those of you who ride banshees with temperature gages , what kind of temps are ya'll runnin at ? I'm averaging about 165 deg. When I ride up to the top of a dune and let it idle I've seen it get up to about 180 degrees. I'm just wondering if these temps are kinda on the hot side. icon_confused.gif
SHOCKER
Does the bike feel hot, my Z gets hot in warm weather even when idling after going up a hill, i think its common nothing to worry about, if ya want it cooler get some radiator fluint called ICE, i heard its really good and it runs cooler
Yamiboy
you know eddie i dont run with a temp gauge even though i should. i usually depend on the smell of the bike and the feelin im gettin from it.

matter a fact are they easy to hook up and where would you hook it up to? i know they exist but have never seen one in person!

Is that oil temp or coolant temp?
Mines not liquid cooled (400ex) but my oil temp runs about 250-275! And it’ll hit 300 easy if you’re cruising below 3rd gear.

Yeah, to answer your question Fixxr, it's water temp. An additional oil temp.gage would be nice but I don't want to get to carried away with gages.
I bought it at Pep Boys for about $30 and it was kind of pain to install but I did it (sure wish I had a digital camera I'd show some pix).
memo
i tryed that ice stuff or whatever its called on 2 different quads w/ temp gauges and there was no difference at all, that stuff is just a waste of money i think i paid like $17.00 for each 1/2 gal. that stuff just looks cool because its blue but it does not work.
Li'l Eddie
memo, I know what you mean. I've tried that same blue stuff and no difference whatsoever compared to prestone. I've even tried "water-wetter" and that too is a joke.

Yamiboy,
Here is some info I ran across, I thought it was interesting.

I've never had a problem with my Maxima Coolanol. I would like to look into putting a temp gauge on, though...
DISTURBED
I have a temp guage on my wife's banshee.
I cut the radiator line about 2 inches away from where it comes out of the cylinder head, and then mounted it near the fender on the front left side.
The bike can run hard all day and stay around 160 to 170 .
I don't have any special coolant in it either.
Forced Overtime
I run a temp gauge on my banshee, and I find it very helpful. Installation was not hard and could be done in a matter of fifteen to twenty minutes. I will take pics and load them as soon as I get back home from my Sacramento.

Officially Highjacked..... Any other info would be great. I am looking into installing a gauge for my banshee.
