Between the klx250s and the tw 200 what would be a better hunting bike to get from camp to the hiking trails. I'm trying to keep the bike small and reliable. I'm 5'8" 230 so don't know if these little bikes would even get me around.

Both models would be perfect for what you want. They are very different bikes though. The KLX is more of an offroad dirtbike than a pavement pounder. It has better suspension and a more modern motor than the TW. The TW just looks funky with it's big fat tires and it's unique styling. It's as reliable as they come though and is a blast to ride (Ask wopachop). Do you like one style over the other? If not, maybe pick up the best deal near you. Also there is the yamaha XT250. It's a great little thumper also. Any of the bikes will get you around just fine though none of them are designed for the mx track.

I don't have a preference but if the klx has better suspension I might go look at them.

The KLX has 10" front and 9" rear with better brakes, updated bodywork and frame geometry in 2009. It weighs 278. The TW200 has about 6" front and back and weighs 279lbs with a rating of 79mpg. The klx will have quite a bit more power because it is water cooled with a larger displacement however the air cooled motor in the TW200 is proven reliable and has no hoses to burst.

From all that I have read the TW would be the perfect bike for trails and hunting. I too am thinking about buying one.

From the brief description you have provided, TW200, no question. But, if you ever envision riding beyond simple trails and using it for hunting, I would look for a clean '98-'99 Suzuki DR350SE. If you have short legs, I would look for a late model Yamaha XT350. Both are air cooled, have equal to (or more power than) a KLX250, and are bullet-proof. With an air-cooled bike, there is no radiator to damage in a fall, or water pump to fail. I am not a big fan of liquid cooled trail bikes.....remember, if the cooling system is damaged in a fall, you will be pushing it out of the woods......or leaving it behind.
