I was checking out the HYPER rims the other day.
They look pretty cool, but....

Are they just as strong as aluminum wheels?

Does any body own them? How would you rate them?

I like them, but will they withstand the baja desert terrains?

Any help will be appreciated.

do they have a website?
SHOCKER
Dude they are the best out there, i have seen them on ebay and everybody over a zcentral wants them, i want them but they cost alot, they are the best, they are carbon fiber beadlocks, and when you buy them yu can pick the color of the bead lock ring

Other then what Shocker basically said, (hearing that they're good) the only other thing I can add is that quite a few Pro's do run them for MX. Not sure about Desert though. Travis Spader did testing for them some years ago and "SUPPOSABLY" he couldn't damage one but basically broke the shocks and other stuff trying to damage the wheels. Granted, that write up was in one of the popular rags so take that for what it is. I haven't "HEARD" of them having any issue's. I always buy aluminum beadlocks but mostly because of the cost. I'd love a set of dual bead-lock Hyper's for TT - just for the weight savings. Plus, they look way nice! If I can ever find a smokin' deal on some I'm definitely going to try them out.

I have used them in district 37 desert races for the past year with no problems. Mine are sratched and scuffed, but they are still working great after a hard season of racing. I dont think they are worth it if you are only play riding in the dunes though.

I just spoke to a guy at a motorcycle shop. He has used them for desert racing without a problems until last week (8 months after he bought them).

He said he contacted Hiper and they replaced the wheel.
He also stated that after the one year warrantly the wheel is damaged, you only pay $30 to get a new one. New beadlocks run for $22 if you need to replace them.

I guess that's not bad after all. The only thing is they are pricy.

What are you gonna put them on? the raptor or the 250r?
Sandpusher
I was thinking the 250r, but after getting the prices.....

Umm maybe not!!

I have never bought them because of 2 things.
1. When you get to racing bar to bar or you clip something. The Carbon fiber WILL CHIP.

2. If you or some one over tightens the ring instaling a new set of tires and strips out the mounting hole then what?
Are you going to break out your trusty tap and die set and retap the Carbon fiber? laughing.gif

If you can live with a few chips on your rims or a helicoil or two go for it

I will stick with my alum locks

I've personally seen a rear hiper rim buckle over a jump....not worth the money IMO
Bansh88
How much is pricey?

I have them on my C-Dale and love them. They don't chip and the bead lock have inserts so they don't strip. They do cost more then alum. wheels. but they will last longer. If you are going to stay in the sand I wouldn't spend the money. You can run lighter alum wheels and keep your unsprung weight down....86
SHOCKER
They shouldnt be heavier than aluminum, the cost on ebay around $390
rivermobster
for that kinna price...forget it!!!

dont know about em personally...but i did hear that if you hit one real hard...they jus shatter!!! ive hammered a rim back in place more than one time. would be kinna hard to do that if the whell is in pieces!!! shock.gif tongue.gif

Shocker They do weigh more then the alum. wheels that we run in the sand. Now the alum. wheels that racers use for desert and MX do weigh more that the Hypers.
SHOCKER
Im sure they weigh more than the douglas .125's, but those rims only do good in sand im sure they are not heavier than the itp t9's

Yea, I think that's what I was saying...One more thing the rear hypers only come in a 9 inch. Last time I talked to them they weren't doing the 10 inch. This means you will have to buy some 9 inch Skat tracks or the 9 inch ITP's.....More money....86
