Full Version: Ww Le3505 Thermostat Wiring Pics (solved). Now No Gfi, Microwave And Ac When On Generator Power

So I attempted to wire a new digital thermostat and took a picture of the wires before I took them off the old analog one. The problem is that I didn't write down the colors or verify the picture before I started working and the picture was too dark for me to tell what wires went where.

Since then my AC hasn't worked right so I'm guessing I rewired it wrong.

I've attached a pic of the current wiring config and was hoping someone would be so kind as to pop the cover off of their analog thermostat on their WW and let me know if the colors are in the correct order.

Here's how I have them wired currently (Left to Right).

+7.5 - Red
Cool - Brown
Furnace - White
Hi Fan - Blue
Fan - Purple
Ground - Green

Thx a bunch!

Tried not to let them touch. Will double check that again.

After re-looking at my old pic, it looks like the ones that are the most likely to be switched are the purple and the brown. They both look black in the photo. May just need to switching those.

I switched the brown and purple wires and nothing. I switched them back and kept looking for the problem. What I found was that my AC would only work when I was hooked up to shore power. It wasn't working on shore power before because I had tripped the breaker on my house where I had the extension cord plugged in. I reset it and the AC worked fine.

New problem though. Or I guess it's probably the original problem that I hadn't discovered yet. My AC doesn't work when I run the generator. My 12-volt, non GFI outlets work, but my GFI outlets don't. The microwave doesn't work either. Everything else seems to work just fine (lights, non GFI outlets, etc).

I connected back to shore power and everything seemed to work fine (AC, Microwave, GFI outlets, etc, etc).

So shore power equals everything working. When I run the genny, everything works except the AC, microwave and GFI outlets.

Anyone have any ideas?

Blown 12v fuse or breaker someplace? Maybe while plugged to shore power start tripping breakers until you duplicate the issue? Might try killing the 12v converter first. I bet something doesnt see 12 battery but sees 12v from the converter...

Check the breakers out in the generator compartment. I dotn think its a problem with your thermostat being that it works being pluged in.

Thanks for the advice. I'll check to see what breakers are in there. The ones in the power box are good.

Thx for the advice. I checked the breaker and all the fuses I could find and they are good. Seems like there's always fuses hidden on that thing so there's a good chance there's one hiding I couldn't find.

Does the inverter only work off of shore power but not when the generator is running?

BTW, I'm electrically ignorant. icon_sad.gif

the converter should work off both gen and shore.

Problem solved! I opened the generator box to check for breakers but was a little skeptical since I didn't see how the generator would run half the stuff in the trailer but not the other half.

Well, sure enough there were "two" breakers on the gen, not just one (as I had thought). One of them had tripped. I reset it and problem solved! Awesome! Thanks everyone for their suggestions. Good stuff.

Just have one more issue to solve. The hot water heater isn't lighting. The red light comes on on the switch inside and I hear a faint tick, tick like it's trying to light but nothing. I can manually light it but after it heats up the tank it shuts off and won't relight unless I manually do it again.

I tried bypassing the thermo cutoff but that didn't work. I just pulled the circuit board and will probably end up getting a replacement.

My neighbor said he was standing around out at the dunes (at another rig, not mine) when a service tech grounded something out with two alligator clips, reset something and it worked fine without having to replace anything. Anyone heard of anything like that?

Just a follow-up to close the loop on this thread. My hot water heater ignition issue ended up being the circuit board. I tried everything else and nothing worked so I ended up ordering the board from the original manufacturer (Vs Atwood). Paid $110 shipped. Plugged it in and it fired up the first time and runs like it is brand new. Perfect.
