So our 5ver has a hydrolic pump for the slides. Has been dead nuts reliable since we bought it new in 05. (06 Forest River SP37). Last year the pump resevoir started leaking between the tank and the o-ring. I sealed the leak with high temp adhesive gasket sealer. Worked fine till the temps rose again out here in the high desert.

I then ordered a new o-ring. It is the correct o-ring but comes just a teensy tiny thicker. Still leaks. I am 100% sure nothing else is leaking. It is still between the tank and the pump. It is slower but still there. The design is a joke.

I am ready to pay some company to install a new pump with a better tank design. I have seen quite a few posts here re custom rigs. So I guess I am interested in who could do this retrofit for me? Anyone know? Thanks in advance.

x2

How does the line attach to the pump? Could you have a line built that would eliminate the o-ring? If so, Hose Man or Hose Mart in San Bernardino and Colton could probably help with custom lines.

Find a place that sells O rings. Bust out your micrometer and measure then buy a couple o rings...

Nope. Won't work. The design of this tank in relation to the pump is a joke. The thickness of the plastic tank flange is about a 16th of an inch where it meets the pump. There is no seal where the tank meets the pump. The seal is created when the tank is slid over the pump inerds where the oring is. When bolted up you can push right at the tank/housing and the tank will flex. After replacing the o-ring with the one that's supposed to fix the problem it actually flares the tank out a tad away from the housing. So I know the oring is doing it's job. It's just a lame design. And after talking with Forest River they stopped this design after they started recieving all kinds of complaints about this problem. This tank/pump combo is no longer in production either.

Thanks for the refferals guys. I will start making calls.
Peace, Gino
