We ended up helping a friend and now are the owners of a 2005 Rhino... It's got low hours, a billit long travel kit, Walker Evans shocks, Gorilla axles, full fabbed cage, cell etc... We ran it for @ an hour a few weeks ago w/o issue and it's been sitting since. I just pulled it out to do some stuff and noticed the drivers side rear, inner CV is angled and I can take my hand and move it so it's angled and out of alignment with the rear diff like the input or splined shaft at the end of the CV has an issue? Being a desert racer and pretty mechanically adept I know enough to know somethings up but this is our first SXS and I'm admittedly clueless... No pics or manual (I will get one) but figured this isn't the first time this happened and wondered if I could get some input from peeps with way more SXS experience than I have... Also looking for a good local shop/mechanic for service type work close to Glendora CA. Gracias!

Gorillas are notorious for this problem. Although its usually the passenger side rear. They can sometimes be built by Gorilla with slightly the wrong length, causing them to pull out occasionally. There are also issues with the circlip that keeps them in the diff being damaged during installation. Most people say that if they are installed correctly, they pretty much will never come out again (even when you want them too). Ive heard of people throwing away rear diffs because they cant get them out. Ive also heard of people that had a burr on the splines, causing the axles to not plunge correctly, pulling them out. Gorilla sort of went back and forth with their design, adding a shaft that linked the two CVs together, and then deciding to get rid of it again. I think they just dont know how to make their design work the way it should 100% of the time.

You could try a new circlip, and JAM that thing in there again, and hope for the best, but it may just pop out again. Ive worked with two rhinos with Gorilla axles. My race rhino never had a problem with them. By buddies cruiser had the right rear pop out several times (same long travel). We are now going to bolt the two inner Cvs together internally, getting rid of the C clip problem completely. Its a pain, but should be a permanent fix (and much cheaper than going back to stock CVs and replacement 300m axles) which is what alot of former Gorilla users ended up doing.

I fought the gorilla isue for about a year, if there not comming out of the diff the axles just break. I went back to stock W/ 300m axles and never looked back. Good luck.

I had this same problem on my old Rhino on the front. I tracked down the LT Kit builder and low and behold he didn't have the axles measured correctly. He was nice enough to replace the axles for free with the correct dimensions. Unfortunatlely the CVs and Stubs were ruined from the over extending axles so I had to replace those as well. I ended up buying two new stock Rhino axles because they were cheaper than buying the ends by themselves. I swapped them over like I was doing a new LT Kit install and everything was as good as new after that. Good luck.
