So the trailer is going to sit for about 9 months...all our desert toys will be stored inside the trailer...i wanted to make sure that I do not have any odor's or excessive moisture when I come back from deployment. Does anyone have any suggestions for ways to keep the trailer like new for that much time??? Also we used to use moth balls in the boat back in the day to keep the rats and any other varmints out of there...is that still what everyone uses....i also though tthat the ANT stuff around the tires would help...just wanted to see if anyone else has done extended storage and had success or sadness wih what they did. Thanks

dri-z-air, it will need re-filling before 9 months though.

Mine sits for along time also since i deploy as well. I live in the desert so my concern is dryness, so i place a bucket ful of water in it to act as a humidifier. As far as varments, havent had a issue with them...but I guess you can leave traps, just have someone check them every now and then. I do keep my tires covered and I park my trailer on a concrete RV access. Gas fumes, make sure you dont leave any fuel in your toys....

in the east, they store rv's in the winter inside mushroom mines. they have to place buckets of charcoal birquettes (yeah kingsford) inside the motorhomes or they will actually grow

I'd like my 33' to be 36'... How long you think that would take? tongue.gif

Trickle charger, fuel stabilizer in all the gas tanks (make sure and run the motors after you add), moth balls around the gennie, food compartments, etcc..
Don't forget to lubricate the hitch mechanism.. Mine rusted up on an extended storage.

awesome all sound advice....i am going to incorporate all of these things into my final plan....keep the ideas coming.

Use Borax on the ground around the tires and anything else touching the ground.
Ants and bugs won't cross it.
Mongo
Make sure the water in the coach batteries is topped off and they are charged up...

borax...that's the stuff i was trying to find...perfect! i was going to charge the batteries and also disconnect them so they can sit.

Put the trailer on jacks and remove the tires completely. Will save your tires as well as guarantee nobody will steal the trailer.

Well, at least make them "earn" it... icon_biggrin.gif

But yeah, make sure to cover or remove the tires and store them inside where the sun won't hit them. Also, make sure you're not storing any toys on their paddles.
