My 02 Banshee has just finished his 3rd season. What preps, cleans and replacements need to be done for the 4th upcoming season?
It's a stock engine. FMFs, K&N and V Force are the only add ons. Other than plugs and oil, not much has been changed.

Change the air in your tires. Thats a must!
I really don't know what all is needed. On top of changing the gear oil, plugs and cleaning the filter I would clean it all up. Make sure you lube the chain and anywhere else that needs lube. Should be good after that.

Yup, don't need nuthin as long as both cylinders are firing and it shifts. Just put aside a couple hundred or so in case the clutch goes. If your real light on the clutch, you might not need one for a couple more years. My 97 still has the original clutch.

maybe do a compression test on the cylinders?

Ditto, I am doing Carrie's top end this summer. It had like no compression the last trip out, I could practically start it with my finger

. I am surprised it still started at all

. I have re-done top ends when I did'nt reallly need too, but it had a lot of hours on it so I figured it would be best for the long run

yeah i hear you can lose like 10hp if you run stale air!
i know when i put mine away for the season i usually dont leave the paddles on it. mainly cuz i move it everyonce in a while and its can be a biatch to move it. that and if they happen to lose air i dont have to worry about the tires going bad from sittin flat so long.

Cool. So maybe just a top end?
RRon3, when should I drop it off?

Ck all the nuts and bolts, after a few seasons you may have some loss parts.
Ck your chain to see if it's kinked or worn, it may need to be replaced also ck your sprockets, when replacing one replace them all.

Check your compression, if it is 110 or above for both cyluinders I would just leave them alone. Stock compreesion on a banshee is about 120 per cylinder.
Oh, and I ain't cheap for top ends. Ask Carrie

ok so what does a top end run on a 350 banshee was thinking about doing mine this summer

Around $500 if you let a shop do it, about $250-$300 for the parts and boring (depending on who you know). Saves a couple hundred to do it yourself.

Matt, maybe you should specify the build level your engine's at...

The last time I rode with you the Banshee was running pretty good!

They run best right before the rings are about to go!

yeh man....these guys have all the great tips. when u change your oil look for metal, or sand. (incase there are any air leaks).
ummm, flush the radiator and use the regular green anti-freeze. unless u wanna get pricey and use water wetter. (i hear it works well).
the air in the tires was a good idea,.....and the compression check. sounds like a good deal. hope to see you out there. later

Aren't the ATV coolants designed for that?

Make sure you carb. caps are tight. mine came loose a few times this season and it would start to backfire when warming up and would get gradually worse during the ride. Now i have to get top end before i sell it. Putting your bike on a stand is a good idea to save the suspension.

That is what he is telling you to use, not the coolant they sell for cars.

cool cool, thanks guys. I guess I better flush my radiator. Although my mechanics drag-bike runs on that purple engine ice. Does that work? His bike is also on alcohol so it runs cooler anyway.
Oh and another question, i want to put in inline temp gauge on my banshee, where would i pick one up?
