Full Version: Tranny Swap
Just thought I would share a few pics of a tranny swap we did from a Fortin to 2D. We made the tabs removable so it was easier to remove and install.
As always nice, clean work!!

How did you make up the difference in the input shaft location(3/4" Did you raise the motor or lower the trans?)? Also what is that on the front of the tran that looks like a nose cone? I just did the same sweep in a Tatum Spyder and I had to actually build a new lower cage and move the motor rear ward. Also my S4 looks nothing like the bottom picutres. That loos more like the old 2D. Did you do anything to rear shocks? Also what shifter are you using? Putting it in My Spyder was a huge amount of work and I had a builder mount the engine and trans.
Call me crazy , but that looks like a 2D to me... Doesnt look like any S-4 I've seen..

Big mistake!!!!! This was a Fortin to a 2D. Got my pics all mixed up. Wasn't paying attention. Sorry guys

Your right the Fortin is a bad tranny. Hey since you dont want your fortn send it my way. Ill send you my 2D as a spare lol...
Only reason I can think of is maybe the guy is selling his buggy and wants to keep his Fortin...

Probably bought a roller from someone that was tabbed for a fortin, and just put a 2D in instead.

This was the car Duramaxxin sold a while back. He sold it as a roller and it was tabbed for a Fortin. My guess is he already had a 2d, or didn't want to pony up the money for the Fortin.
On a personal note, I'm note a fan of the Fortin trans, heard more bad than good.

That would be correct. The new owner already had an LS1 and a 2D from another car.
Never had any issues with the Fortin 3 seasons and not a single problem with it.
