If anybody knows of any accounting internships available at their place of work or anywhere for that matter, please let me know. I am seeking an internship in the Southern California area. I would prefer San Diego, but internship opportunities with big firms in San Diego are limited, so I am interested in other Socal locations as well. I am not set on getting an internship with a big firm, but would prefer it.

I am starting my senior year at SDSU's Charles W. Lamden School of Accoutancy where I have a GPA of 3.54. I will be graduating in May, but am interested in starting an internship as soon as possible.

Please let me know if you know of any openings at any firms or businesses. At this point I am interested in all aspects of accounting whether it be tax, financial, managerial, auditing, etc.

Thank you,

Kelly

My wife graduated from the same program.
I know she joined some group and they rubbed shoulders with all the big firms once a month. I think it was Cal CPA or YEP, but I'll check!
Congrats, only one year left!!!!! 25cheers.gif

FYI,
Those big firms, especially the top 10, will work you like a DOG!!!!!

One of my professors just received the Outstanding Educator Award from CalCPA last month. I'm sure your wife had him while she was in the program, he's been there for around sixteen years, Will Snyder. He's an incredible professor. Very inspiring. He always says, "anything worth having is difficult to achieve." He's 100% correct.

Have you looked into some of the local auditing firms in the area? That is where I would start first, especially going to school down there. It's alot of hard work, but deffinately worth the experience.

You need to join the accounting society and go to all the functions. It is a bit late, but you should still do it. They should have all kinds of functions with the big 4 and all the other mid tier and small firms that recruit at your school.

I graduated from Fullerton and did the above, which is how I landed my job at a big 4. I've since left and work on the other side of the fence now.

If you are interested in picking my brain, PM me your #. I worked at 2 Big 4 firms and did recruiting at both, meaning that I think I can give you some valuable insight.
