Anyone familiar with the new weddle HV-1 transmission? Just curious how it is holding up. Lots of nice features to it.

I was askin around a few weeks ago..seems to be holdin up well..no one had a bad thing to say about them...then again theres not many of them out there yet..but from the sounds of it..its gonna be a nice trans...

i was tryin to deside between the hv1 and the 2d... hv1 is the lastest and greatest..but only real advantage is the reverse gear is stronger..the main gears are 15% thiner then the 2d..and it cost more..so i didnt really see any advatage over the 2d..if it was cheaper then i might have went that route..

sure theres been problems with the 2ds..but theres probly what 100-1 of the 2ds to the hv1 or more so im sure they will have there bugs to work out

but i really cant say anything negative about the hv1 looks like a really nice setup

That is where I found it and stiked my eye. I liked the idea of the larger reverse gear and that it was the same price as a 2D. Figured it has to be good since it is made by weddle. Plus it is rated at a higher horse rating then the 2D. Trying to find more info since I need to buy a trans soon on my build.

I didn't know that this thing uses smaller gears if that's the case don't bother, I'd rather baby the reverse then baby my forward gears IMHO?

How often do you hear about broken forward gears in the 2d? Usually it's the R&P, reverse gear, or the mainshaft bearing.

Actually if they are running gears 15 percent smaller, they are probably Ebox gears 002 Gearset!!
Then hell go with the ebox and save a grand or two!!!
NIKAL
I would have to assume Weddle chose the smaller gear's for a reason. Its not like they did not know what gears Mendeola is using, considering Mendeola buys Weddle gears. It was my understanding that Albins helped Weddle design the HV-1 and Albins makes a nice piece themselves.

I'm guessing they didn't want the mainshaft bearing issue that the 2d developed from flexing of the mainshaft due to the additonal load, that's why so many have had great luck with the Ebox!!!
Those side covers sure do look pretty (probably what albins helped with)!!!
Someone said it best, with a lot of horsepower you will always break stuff, the weekest link goes first!!!

Upgrade the gears, the Ring ad pinion will go!!!
Upgrade the ring and pinion now the gears become the weak link again, then it's cv's you get the deal!!!

My next buggy will have a s4 with 930 cv's, I'd much rather bust a cv, then a trans, just my .02 cents!!!

I get what your saying but I can't afford to buy a $13000 trans. As much as I would like to have a S4
Squatcher
S4's aren't that much. you should get a used one for under 9. Also I bet the gears are smaller to fit the bigger reverse gear in there.

I dont understand the logic but whatever makes you happy. I doubt it runs 002 gears...

How often do you hear about broken forward gears in the 2d? Usually it's the R&P, reverse gear, or the mainshaft bearing.

I broke 3rd gear three times in my buckshot.

Sounds like you have/had the wrong tranny laughing.gif
rice eater
ya diffently sounds like the wrong trans.. a 2d in a buckshot?.. 2d are only rated for 375hp..something tells me there was probly alil more hp then that in a big buckshot..

seems to be most of the reason u here about trany failers...people cant afford to put the correct trans behind the motor.... ( time to start makin the trans cheaper smile.gif ) it still blows me away how much they are gettin for a damn transmision...whats even crazier is that we still buy them..lol
