I'm looking to buy a quiet portable generator to power my wifes mobile booth at fairs and festivals. I recently got suckered into buying the $450 Honeywell at Costco because the guy said it was as quiet as the Honda. Not even close! At these fairs, low db's are required. I'm looking at 1000 watts cuz that'll be plenty but will get a 2000 watt if the price is right so I can use it to power the 5'er if needed.
Any opinions on the pro's and con's of these two models?
And where is a good place to buy in the LA/OC area?

Never seen anyone with a Yami, though I have heard they are good. I know LOTS of people that love the Honda. You're probably OK with either one, but I think the Honda is definitely more popular.

We got a bunch of Honda 2000's in our camp running all day and you can barely hear them run.

We have one of the Yamaha 2800 inverter style inverters. Quiet and tough. It has been used in our company, in and out of the back of trucks with dirt and dust for more than four years. It has been a good piece of equipment.
I originally wanted to get the Honda equivalent but the Yami was on sale that day for less so that's what we did. Ended up working out pretty good.

My dad has a Honda 2000 and runs it all night for a breathing machine. Last trip it was right by my trailer and I never heard it. He bought it to see if it was what he wanted and if he likes it (which he does) he will buy another one soon since they can be daisy chained. They also sell and extender tank that will let it run forever. Someday hopefully I will get it as a hand me down. You wont be disappointed with the Honda.

We have the Honda 2k and 3k - Love them both.
Tried some of the cheaper ones first. We'll never go back.

Just found a used Yamaha ef2400 inverter for $900. This this is SUPER quiet. I think it will work perfect for what we need it for.

i used to have a yamaha iseb3000.
it was a touch quieter than the honda, and had more start up capacity than the honda does, and it came with wheels. (honda didnt at the time) i have since sold it. it was a real workhorse, and never let me down. quiet as can be.
at work we have honda 3000's mounted to our trucks. cant go wrong with either.

Could not find a used Honda on Craigslist but I found a used 1000 watt Yami. It fits my needs well.

The 1000 may be fine but put any load i am sure the rpms will rise quickly.A 2000 doesnt seem to be priced much more and will handle the small loads really good,
I have a 3000 and love it.If i didnt need to run an a/c or my air compressor i might consider the 2k.Otherwise it barely goes above idle even when running the a/c in my camper or toyhauler
