Since you don't mind driving, you should check out Oregon and attend the Sandfest at least once.

yes i have been there a few times. the sand is really fine. and lots of open area to ride in. but lots of drop offs, and wind lol. but on the good side i went one time for the 4th of july and was 3 or 4 camps. the rest of the place was empty. the road in sucks 22 miles of washed out road, but worth it. but if you are driving that far check out Semino and Walden also. if you go to dunereview.com you can find a lot of info and maybe someone to go out with that knows the place. also in killpecker the dunes are booming dunes, kinda fun to slide down them and feel and hear the noise the dunes make.

thats the thing, dont think we will make the trip to glamis this year and and LS oklahoma is gettiing old. would love to go to sandfest but the long haul is out this year. Mapquest says just over 12 hours to killpecker, and its 24-25 to glamis so it would ALOT closer just dont want to go if it is lame.

I think you'd have more fun with a rail at St. Anthony's, and I don't think its that much further for your than Killpecker, maybe a few hours?

I agree with Litte Sahara getting old.... But still nice being it's only 2.5hrs from home.
We to were thinking of Killpecker dunes. When were you planning on going if you did? This summer or next? Don't think it would be good to go in the winter months, but dunno.
We are planning to go to St. Anthony's this next late June or July. Thinking that we will stop by Killpecker either on the way there or on the way back. Never been to either place yet, just Little Sahara and ButterCup (1 time). Let me know when your planning to go.

I saw the same article so we made the trip over 4th of July this year, we had a good time but it's not Glamis. The road in is 23 miles of rough wash board road (an hour in the MH), windy every day this made for great sand but a lot of drop offs and hard to read the dunes, only 2 other camps so very quiet. Worth at least trying it once.
