Here are a few pix from my Mammoth Lakes trip... logged about 140 miles of RZR riding and will slap together a video but need some time to edit all the footage down to 5-10 mins. There are some great trails... I went from Mammoth to June Lake a couple times and once from Mammoth to Laurel Lake.

I swam across that lake, (Laurel Lake) and seriously almost died. Its amazing how fast cold water sucks the life out of your muscles. There's another trail just to the south of Convict called Convict Overlook....its the best out there. 360° view of EVERYTHING.

love that place....I've done a lot of damage to my toys up there....

Sweet!!! Love Mammoth

No fishing poles strapped to the top of the Rzr??? Dude, I could only imagine some of the streams you can fish up in there.

Thanks for sharing!!

You're right I messed up and left the poles at the trailer... next time they will be with me. I passed up some great fishing holes loaded with natural brown trout. On the way up to Laurel I passed two SXS's coming down with poles.... now I know why. I did get my fishing time in though. I hit Twin Lakes, Lake Mary, Convict, Silver Lake and the stream between Silver Lake and Grant Lake. The stream was hitting well and the bait to have seemed to be a single salmon egg on a small egg hook. Didn't get anything on Powerbait or worms but thats what the word on the street there was. Also they have not been stocking the lakes as usual because tourism is way down. Apparently they are skipping every other stocking session and are cutting down to half the fish on each stock. I think they said it was like 800lbs down from 1600lbs on George.

Where did you guys camp at?
SDB
Im curious too. Did you ride straight out of the campground?
MossLager
Depends on which pix as I camped at Mammoth Lakes campground which is right as you enter town on the left side of the highway and also Silver Lake campground at the June Lake loop. You can hit a trailhead directly across the highway behind the ranger station which has 100's of miles of trails off it. If you are not tagged you must trailer across the highway to leave. There is a campground you can leave directly from at the base of Laurel Lake where many SXS's were camped at but I can not remember the name and I think it was $20 a night dry camp. The ideal place to camp is Glass Creek off 395 between Mammoth and June Lake. Its free (first come first serve), can fit the big 40 footers and is really scenic with creeks running through it and you can ride straight from camp all the way to Bodie or back to Mammoth if you want. Once again 100's of miles of trails. This is where I will camp later this year if I go again.

Ya, you ain't kidding.. I screwed up. All the SXS's coming down the trail had poles and I quickly learned why. Need one of those Ronco pocket fishermans

Wow, great pics. I haven't been there since I was 10? I never even thought they would allow sxs on those trails. I think the last time I was there we took a horse pack trip/or back packed in. The one picture with the tall timber laid up on the sides reminds me of something I think was called devils ????? Thanks for posting.

Ya thats Devils Postpile... its made of stone. As an FYI you need to hike to that one...... surely no SXSs allowed there. Its a walking trail.

What is the best time of the year to go? June/July? Do you need anything special on a SxS? Can you get to several fishable lakes from Sherwin Creek Campground?

The only lake I know of from Sherwin Creek is Laurel Lake... but there's some big browns in there if you are lucky enough to get them out. Convict Lake is only a short drive south down 395 but I don't know of a way there on a SXS but I did see some quads and bikes popping out on a trail that looks like it headed back towards Sherwin Creek when I was near the entrance to Convict... so there may be a way. Definitely worth asking around for a GPS track on.
