Just pulled mine and it's pretty nasty looking and as reading people saying to pull the OEM and put in an inline filter. Anyone run an inline with sucess? Which one are you using?
Baracudaaa
A lot are running the 'Spectre' brand inline filter, but I stay away from them since they have a glass housing and 1 rock can knock you out of commission. I started using a small automotive inline filter, I forget what brand, but its lasted a while now, and now problems. Look over on the HQ site, there is tons of info.

I would use an Aeromotive. Maintaining the 42-43 psi of fuel pressure is a big issue.

put in an inline filter on

Just remember, some have had good luck with inline filters on the LTR, some have had nothing but problems.(the filter being the only issue) The OEM is the safe bet.

original was in since 06 and still ran fine. Looked like crap when I pulled it out though but never had a problem. Ended up just sticking with the swirl again for now.

THAT is an inaccurate statement...it is micron filtration that will dictate whether a "in line" filter will work on not...we have seen plenty of riders and builders use an after market "in line" filter with much success...I run both the stock filter and a inline filter...no problems after 4 years of service...do your research...

Junkie, you just proved what I said is accurate. someone who is unaware of getting the correct micron rating & goes down to the local auto parts store and pulls a generic off the shelf thinking it will work can end up with something that doesn't meet the criteria. That can & has happened to more than one person over on some of the LTR specific boards.

Just stating the easy route is to get an OEM filter.

I went with an inline used the Russell Filter used on injected vehicles, www.jegs.com had the best price.

If you do decide to go with the swirl filter make sure to buy the replacement O-ring, it really sucks if you have to tear down your quad again due to a leaky swirl container.

what is the correct micron rating for the inline filter
thanks devin
