Just got done "rockin" it at St. Anthony's Dunes for a few days, then at Coral pink for a few (dunes & desert). Car was bulletproof, reliable, comfortable, and fast.

this was heading back....

But I must admit, I'm going to the "dark side." Starting to build my A-arm car next month. This Explorer chassis will be for sale soon.

What you guys consider "old school" is funny. There are only a couple old school cars in this thread. Just because it has a beam doesn't make it old school. Mine is in my signature.

To me real old school is pre VW days when you had big blocks up front and duel paddles in the back.
Process Specialist
I built one up, but it was not wide enough for the family. Sold it to another board member. Been struggling to build another ever since, really miss it.

Not "Old School", but a Honda powered beam car with a bus box trans anyway.

Here are some pic's...

I was building an 09 A-Arm car from buggy works when I stumbled across this one.

Since I didn't have the cash to finish the A-Arm car, I picked up the white one and spent a little money on it.

Took it out during the Presidents day holiday of 2010 and had a great time.

It's a 2 seat with adjustable front & rear torsions, 2.2 subi and 002 trans.

My buddy's with the v8's blow me away on the big bowls but at least they wait up for me during refreshment breaks.

I plan to pretty it up over the summer and sell it in the fall.

long live the beam !

I love old school VW rails. IMHO they are alot more fun then the big LT V8 cars simply because you have to get technical with the 4 banger on how to conquer certain dunes versus the v8....just power righ up it. Not as challenging. My dad's rail in the pic. He build it in 1986...still rocking it with the original motor....no overhaul what so ever.
TOAD1979
heres mine kind of old school till recently.. just got done swaping in a 2.3l turbo ford engine..

I need to go get some pics of my sand sprite 3 beam car. started building it in 03 and finished it about 2 years ago, never even took it to the sand. but I'll get it out there here in a few weeks.

should have left it as a beam car, that way you could have won the most bad as# beam car award.

Just hook the seat harness through a walking harness or something? That's what we do to our dogs for car rides...
