should have left it as a beam car, that way you could have won the most bad as# beam car award.

Someone needs to start a thread with the baddest beam car!No one said anything about excluding races cars so here ya' go.
This is the 5 unlimited car we raced at the 04' Baja 500 & won!
Some of you might recognize it as George Seeley's:

I made in the running, LOL. Mine was the white and red one. The first car that I have built. It started life as a Prowlers knock down chassis, tack welded and missing alot of what I felt were necessary tubes. So I proceeded to add about another 150Ft or so of tubing to it. Man I wish I would have kept it, but it was too small for a growing family of 5.

This one is not mine, but a friend of mine. He had it at Gordon's Well this Presidents day weekend, this was the 1st time he had it out. I was shocked how well that buggy did. I had to laugh a few times he had all 4 wheels off of the ground, the back axle sure was giving a few times. Gawd I can't imagine being a passenger in it and he had all 4 seats filled! It never saw a tow rope the whole weekend. I know that VW motor was saying mercy a few times. His wife usually rode in the VW buggy, but she decided she wanted to be a passenger in a Hayabusa buggy, well she ended up getting sick

He says he is going again in 3 weeks with us, I don't think his wife wants to go. Oh the stories from the dunes, LOL.....

Here is an "Old School" ride. Built in 1969 by my dad and his buddies. I still run it. Has a reverse turn Corvair 140 and a type 1 Rhino case VW trans. I used to ride in the back seat as a little kid riding up and down Comp. I also included some pics from 1973 Glamis. We were there for the "Dune Buggy Wedding" at Comp. Dean

Did you do the 5-link yourself? How much better is it?

Thanks
A buddy and I did the front and back. The 5 link works very well, but I need to redesign the frame work to accommodate my driving habits

Bend 1 bar and it throws everything off and you end up with axle bind and eventually broken parts. That's racing right?

Thanks, it has been work!! lots of sweat and tears, not to mention all the blood I have shed doing these mods, but it is worth it. To go from what it was to this is awesome, plus knowing that I did it myself is a huge boost to my ego!!!!

It would be cool to check your car out in person. I think I am going to Moab for easter but plan on making the maiden voyage on April 16th to the dunes.
My car is white with an a-arm conversion that is bare metal. Keep an eye out for me, I should be there quite often.

108 as it sits now. If it is squatted more it will lengthen a little. I like the shorter wheelbase because it handles like a mid engine car but still allows me to wheelie on demand!!!!

In all honesty MQ , there isnt many old school cars in here! Just because it has a beam doesnt make it old school. Most of these cars have wider beams with longer arms and coilovers! Old school for me is a buggy with 2-3 inches of wheel travel! At least that was what was around when i was young!

Yeah, you are correct. My dad's to me is old school. Chenowth with stock front beam and swing axle with the torsions cranked tighter then a 18 yr old at a GunsN Roses back stage concert!
