Surprised to hear it made that much of a difference, as the LT80s always had great pipes stock, must be a newer one? Did you do any clutch mods?
throwinrox
no clutch mods yet. probably gonna pass it down to my daughter next year so I will just put a better air filter on. UNI or K&N any preferences.
SHOCKER
Aj can ride my blaster icon_wink.gif hey i still have that uni filter that los gave me to try on the blaster, you can put that on the lt80, right?

K&N with an outerware(witout outerware is engine damage). The Uni gets too dusty, and if you put an outerware on it it gets all oily and is a sand magnet, restricts the air flow. Have you rejetted?, because it will definitely need a larger jet.

Depending on how it takes off, the clutch may not need to be messed with. If it hesitates on take off, you will want to increase the stall speed (can be done with little springs). You might also want to get a stiffer clutch spring to help with torque in the sand. If it is taking off well, it may be best to leave it alone though. Have fun!

I called FMF about the jetting and they said to use the stock jetting. seems like it idles a little faster than before, what size jet would you suggest? I only had a chance to run it around the block so far.

That seems odd to me. Did you change the air filter as well? Anytime you increase the airflow through the engine, what a pipe and air filter will do, you need to go up in jet size. Unless the LT80s come real rich from the factory, you should need a larger jet. A plug check will tell you alot as well. (looking for a beer bottle brown color) Too white you are running lean(need larger jet), too dark, running too rich(need smaller jet). You can adjust the idle with the air mixture screw on the side of the carb (may help it run better as well).

I would call Rich at Hetrick racing 814-676-0477, or http://www.hetrickracing.com/ he really knows his stuff and can get you dialed in perfectly. Just tell him what you have and where you ride, and he can get real close on the jetting, then it is just trying different sizes and picking which one works best.
