I have had my 87' Quadzilla for about 4 years now and the only problem i've had is the gear forks started to wear and would pop out of gear. So I pulled the engine and had the tranny rebuilt, bearings replaced and a new piston installed. I still talk to the original owner and he said that he sold it to me with no engine/tranny work ever done to it except the dealer replaced the top end studs (which is a must do thing).
While I had the motor out I completly stripped the bike and frame and sanded the frame and repainted it. The bike was only run at pismo and in the dirt in the Sierra's, so there was alot of rust.
I put on a FMF pipe, new chain, sprokets and filter and it's been doing great for 3 years since the overhaul.
Just remember it is one of the biggest quads you can buy and it's a heavy beast. I'm a big guy myself and it gets my fat azz up any dune any time with no doubts about "do I have enough power to get up this dune".
Last week I was up at Sand Lake, Oregon and they have these trails that are one way in and one way out. The trail out had a hard left hand turn at the bottom than you had to give it all just as you exit the turn which was then a wall of sand with a path just wide enough for your quad so there is no turning back. And once again my Quadzilla didn't fail me and I got me to the top.
Plus, it's like owning a old hot rod. It's not as polished and smooth as some newer quads but it's got a badazz reputation.
Like my friends say "It sounds like chainsaw on steroids".
