M was looking for something she could do from home like medical transcription. Seems like most of the people offering this kind of stuff might be a scam. They want money up front.

Does anyone have any real experience you'd be willing to share about work from home jobs like this that are for real. We need to be able to keep our schedule flexible for our trips.

She has done medical billing in the past.

Thanks in advance

Our office had a transcriptionist and I think we paid about .13 cents per line. This was a few years ago before our medical software caught up with our needs.

I don't really know about these companies but most of the people we used were not with a company just private people. Also depends on the specialty and knowing the terminology for that type of surgery or practice.

She can do medical billing from home also. Some Doctors can't afford to have full staff any longer so if she walks around to the offices and hands out fliers she may get some hits.

My wife does medical transcription (and a few other things) but she hasnt ever been able to do it from home. She is however always employed. Money isnt great (think she makes about $13/hour) but she goes to work immediately if we are transferred somewhere. She has never been out of work unless she wanted to be.

Jim, this type of work is under going changes, such as outsourcing to India ,which i will never do!!!!!, also some of my colleagues are using a dragon type of software which will transcribe their notes and fax to the referring Dr. for our needs we use transcription in house and when we get busy we have a person here in corona we have used. one thought is once a Dr. finds a good transcriptionist they /we usually will not change without a huge reason, such as multiple mistakes , tardiness or a request for a HUGE pay raise...hope this helps,,,,,michael

Usually when you want a job, you want to get paid, not pay. If they are charging you up front that's a scam.

I remember seeing this thread - we use transcription and need help. Time to turn this element loose.

Sent PM to Jim and Melissa, but if there is anybody else that may be looking?

Work from home you set the schedule long as the turn around is good.

Transcription work requiring the ability to type from audio and apply to various formats that will be provided. No speech to text allowed. Must type at a minimum of 45 words per minute and be able to provide completed product in a timely fashion. Must have above average grammar skills.

Must have access to a computer as well as “Word” and "Excel" and be proficient in both. Transcription software knowledge helpful. Contract (1099) work pending good "fit."

Pay is $15.00 per hour. Guessing around 15 - 20 hours a week depending on work load for the start up period. Helpful if you are in AZ, but not a must.

Yummi,

I have been looking for a 2nd p/t job and this is certainly up my alley. I have the PC (duh) and time in the evenings/weekends. Also, our oldest daughter is currently working her behind off @ the "Spirit" Halloween store but that ends 11/4/10 and she is actively looking for another job. She is required to be able to pay for her own ins and gas $$ before allowed to get her license. But enough about her, this would be perfect for me, would love to meet with you and go over the details. icon_biggrin.gif
